After a number of years of doing ministry,  I  found myself thinking that there has to  be a better way,  a  healthier way to do this.  It felt, at different  times,  like a matter of survival.  And this combination between the personal and the professional is profound.  I began to wonder why what was happening at  church  was affecting me so much personally.  I believe it has  to do with  the nature of ministry.  We are often dealing with ultimate issues-matters of life and death.  And not just physical life and death, but spiritual, and eternal.  In order to survive, then, I  found myself asking some big questions of myself and of God.  Why is this so difficult?  Why am I  struggling so much?  Why do I keep getting stuck in the same place? This study is followed by a seminar and a small group study for the purpose of applying the biblical principles outlined in the life of the church. The conclusion reached in this study is that prayer is the privileged expression of the Father-children relationship, fully granted to us through Jesus, the Son. Members of the congregations were surveyed following six sermons on Romans 12 and five sermons on Old Testament heroes. Additionally, participants attended a two-day retreat and completed pre- and post- surveys. The results of the survey confirmed that daily worship should be a prerequisite to church leadership. This project promotes a public health approach to the treatment of substance abuse by treating the family rather than the individual. Five sessions using an impromptu skit and four didactic sessions educated the abusers about the roles family members play in dysfunctional families. Sermons and a survey drafted by the researcher served as the basis for determining their fulfillment level. Employing the qualitative surveys and questionnaires, they were able to express their fulfillment levels. Consequently, the study revealed that the majority expressed fulfillment in their respective roles. The goal was to improve the quality of 'spiritual' life of the participants through a primary focus of 'spiritual painting' accompanied by prayer, meditation, and Bible story reading. Most of the participants suffered from either or both mental and physical disability. Even though normal communication and activity participation was somewhat limited, meaningful qualitative and quantitative assessments were obtained. Pre- and post-test results of the instructional classes showed that the associate ministers were untrained and improperly mentored.
