To more effectively develop urban worship leaders, this work will consider both the positive and negative systemic effects of contemporary worship practices, comparing and contrasting them with the church's history and theology of leitourgia. It will explore biblical and theological reasons for supporting the contributions of both the church of the past as well as the present. This work will conclude with strategies for furthering worship renewal in the urban context. The study took a curriculum design approach to develop an educational framework for life-based mentoring. Developing this model involved a four-step process. First, the author examined a few key biblical mentoring narratives to find patterns and principles related to life-based mentoring. Second, he explored how the study of literature could inform the development of this model. Third, he established a strategic framework and developed a curriculum for this model. A historical analysis of Christian approaches attempted during the past thirteen centuries have failed to adequately equip Christians to become more effective witnesses with Muslims. This research attempts to identify principles of witness with Muslims and some possible starting points for developing a Christian theology addressed to the Muslim's frame of understanding. The test group included the elders and deacons of the Peachtree City Church of Christ in Peachtree City, Georgia. The focal point of the project was an eight-week leadership class. Two measurement tools were used: the General Self-Efficacy Scale Shearer and the General Perceived Self-Efficacy Scale. Significant increases were recorded in understanding of purpose. Corresponding to this increased mission clarity were minimal elevations in self-efficacy. A model that will effectively assist pastors in the mobilization of Christians into twenty-first century church ministry is the team-based model. This model best addresses the ecclesiological mandates within the twenty-first century cultural terrain. The researcher sought to determine if a positive relationship existed between equipping lay leaders with teambuilding models, principles and skills, and developing church workers who are more effective and fulfilled in ministry in Pentecostal churches in the Northeastern United States.
