Why does a children's sermon sometimes engage adults in a more compelling way than the sermon prepared for adults? Are there connections between the principles of expository preaching and the very things in a good children's sermon that holds the attention of the adults listening? These East-West partnerships face many challenges: older Mission Boards who have little local experience and firmly entrenched approaches of the Venn and Williams three-self model, cultural challenges, leadership changes, historical challeges, and financial challenges. How healthy is a partnership model? What exaclty is a partnership model? Which scriptures address a partnership model? Why will older mission strategies of the past not work in the Balkans? Are these partnerships helpful or hurtful? What is most needed to progress? These are questions addressed in this thesis. Formally and informally, intrachangeably and interchangeably, partners relate to reach unreached people groups. Overcoming short-comings and ensuring continuity results in the ingathering. Indeed, the Missio Dei is operating in the church. The author studies the impact of the A.D. 2000 Movement's Adopt-a-People programme and diagnoses the need for unity. She contends that historically, theologically and biblically, the entire church is to be one in mission. The thesis begins by surveying the congregation to learn about their three greatest personal crises.  Thirteen messages were delivered on Sunday mornings to address these crises.  Detailed fill-in-the-blank sermon notes were included in each Sunday's bulletin.  These inserts were accumulated into a resource booklet after the project as a quick reference tool to assist the congregation in caring for their neighbours, family and friends during a future crisis.
