It is my hope that through an evaluation of historical sources a preaching method will be developed which matches the Psalms as 'the history of every heart in which has burned the love of God.' This method will incorporate tools of modern exegesis and also add an emotional dimension which has remained underemphasized. The third chapter highlights the positive and the negative role of religion in Nigeria, defines peace and describes the understanding of peace according to each religion. The fourth chapter identifies teachings that will need to be deconstructed in the major religions that can serve the community to create a dialogue of shalom/salam. The fifth chapter offers the proper way to foster peace through shalom and provides the meaning of reconciliation along with adequate steps toward reconciliation. The sixth chapter focuses on designing an effective curriculum for congregations in order to facilitate peace education. The seventh chapter offers various healthy practices for peace in the Nigerian interfaith community. The approach used to bring about justice has been in the form of protests, political activism and writing political representatives. However, Unitarian Universalism has not intentionally focused on the pastoral care needs of people in their congregations who are most wounded by injustice. This project describes an intentional approach to cross-cultural pastoral care that employs a new integrated multifactorial assessment model to support racial and ethnic diversity in Unitarian Universalist congregations, by calling attention to the significance of culture on the identity formation of individuals who are labeled by the dominant culture as minorities. Additionally, the project encourages Unitarian Universalist ministers and religious educators when providing pastoral care to consider the history, family, culture and religious/theological issues that inform, nurture and sustain Unitarian Universalists who identify themselves as persons of color or members of an ethnic minority group in the United States."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131757884473344,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:34.794Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:38Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:08:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7e886832-d753-49ce-aba0-de0c960db2b4","accessControl_ssim":["34a9c8a7-a5ac-4631-a85a-924f11b0840a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Planning the implementation of a small church leaders network to promote missional leadership in small churches of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:51:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ce9b2111-857e-4eff-9206-032c47d04a41"],"hasLease_ssim":["7a374d0f-d2d0-4675-834a-6b8fe2e42aaf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Mark H Senter"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Edward D McCallum"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Small churches","Missions--Theory","Evangelical Presbyterian Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["'Missional church' is a term used widely but without common understanding. The Zimbabwean United Methodist Church is continuing to experience considerable numerical and spiritual growth. However, pastors do not have educational resources which are adequate to train new members and mature old ones. The preparation of candidates for baptism and confirmation is identified as a critical need and the project focuses on developing materials to be used by pastors in this preparation. The intent is to equip pastors with teaching strategies and tools (rather than lesson plans), and material is compiled from historical and biblical perspectives. Resources utilized include conversations with district superintendents and pastors, surveys of church members, and archival material accessed in Zimbabwe. The goal is to encourage pastors and draw them to embrace teaching in their ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131761579655168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:38.318Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:46:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"87eda86b-930d-4046-8f2e-81a060d5b538","accessControl_ssim":["40f4437b-9ab7-47e0-bdea-1521b01d8645"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Bioethical education in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:08:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["37033bb6-7701-4a49-ad8f-4c5d21024b6e"],"hasLease_ssim":["f36c2364-6188-4631-9d80-5ec4c2e052d0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["John Frederic Kilner"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Willie Edgar Honeycutt"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Church and education","Moral education","Bioethics--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Present and prospective biotechnologies require local churches to educate congregants in bioethics. It uses his primary works (especially City of God, Confessions, On Christian teaching, Commentary on Galatians and 84 propositions from the Epistles of Romans) as they develop Paul's theology of sin. It builds a theological foundation (based on four theological issues about sin: its origin, its nature, its consequence, and its remedy) in order to establish a correct understanding of the topic of sin in a contemporary context. Ultimately, it utilizes that information to develop a practical theology that is integrated into applicable Christian living in four areas: soteriology, evangelism, ecclesiology, and discipleship. This dissertation takes seriously Paul's notion that 'sin is death' (Romans 6:23) and that God has chosen the church to present his remedy for sin to the world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131835122581504,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:53:48.453Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":304,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
