The poject director enlisted volunteers who expressed a desire to lead short-term mission projects to participate in the training. The participants developed a proposed short-term mission project which will take place in the next two years based on the content of the training. Dr. Mike Edens and an international missionary evaluated the validity of the research. Dr. Sonia Carrington provided expert advice and a critique of the curriculum and the project director's increased knowledge of curriculum design. Richard Niebuhr's Christ and Culture as a guide, he created his own paradigm 'Culture and Christ' by inversing the patterns and starting with Culture. During the first phase of this project, research was conducted to provide content for a workshop to train selected deacons in basic marriage counseling skills and healthy relationships. The second phase included development of the workshop training curriculum and enlistment of selected deacons. The third phase of this project was the implementation phase where the project director presented the curriculum during seven training sessions. Teaching methodologies included lecture, group discussions, participant interaction, and visual illustrations. The equipping program model included a training seminar that equipped a select group of members in responsible evangelism and subsequent discipling relationships for the purpose of spiritual maturation. The project included the creation of a curriculum that functioned as a training tool to equip members in disciple-making. The seminar consisted of six sessions conducted over three days within a retreat setting.
