This project seeks to build upon military training and discipleship training by developing a 7-week discipleship program that teaches the seven character qualities of a disciple as defined by Mark Bailey in his book, To Follow Him within the context of military training. Many of these traditional mentoring programs, though effective in the past, no longer meet the needs of young women. This qualitative research project focused on selected postmodern women and explored the manner in which their unique worldview shapes their mentoring preferences. The thesis project workshop was designed, using music listening exercises along with the kinetic experience of creating visual art, to determine if the imagination can be stimulated to craft more vibrant sermons in a persuasive rhetoric of pathos. Quantitative research evaluation, experienced by evaluating the preaching in the workshop and further in participant interviews, revealed that this workshop stimulated the preachers to use musical language and vivid imagery, supporting the purpose of the thesis. It would appear that similar workshops might be very helpful for use in the preparation of seminary students of homiletics, or an ongoing gathering of clergy colleagues. Although each of these multiethnic churches have come to the same conclusion regarding the importance of being united and inclusive based on their biblical understanding of the New Testament, they have important differences in their strategies. Upon closer examination of each of these representative multiethnic churches, one finds variations because of differing motivations for doing multiethnic ministry. This study focuses on examining these variations. The act of ministry provided two opportunities to educate parishioners about their parish day school and about Episcopal schools in order to increase support for the school as a ministry of the parish. Quantitative and qualitative assessments were made through surveys and a focus group. These assessments suggest that providing opportunities to welcome and educate parishioners about their parish school can increase support for the school and improve the school-parish relationship. The theological foundation incorporates the missio dei, hospitality, and the Trinity.
