Therefore, this study was designed to explore how pastors make application in such sermons. The study used a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with four pastors from the Reformed/Presbyterian tradition who were very dedicated to preaching Christ and making good application. Making application from Old Testament narratives is more of an art than science. This method of generalized minstry reproducibility has produced sterile and ineffective churches that function in a way that is more similar to secular organizations that respond to industry trend rhat than rooted in the New Testament, reflecting the community of the Body of Christ.  The solution this situation is ministry reformation.  This project leads a church through a phase of minstry reformation as they discover their minstry purpose and identity through a shared leadership approach. The project director coached two team leaders to utilize a new tool for the Army's mandated regular performance counseling.  The supervisors utilized the tool monthly for three cycles.  The supervisory relationship and soldier resiliency after the three iterations was compared to before the project to observe changes. The small group leaders who have served for over 4 years have experienced fatigues and burnouts.  Prior to this project, the church did not have a process to help recovering fatigued leaders.  In response to this specific need, the candidate developed and implemented a training program that included lecture, mentoring, practice of various spiritual disciplines, sharing of experiences, and positive encouragement and feedback from peers to help the small group leaders to recover from fatigues and burnouts.  This program prepared the leaders to serve the Lord with renewed strength and spiritual vigor. In the course of 3 months, participants and the candidate learned skills and attitudes to spirituality stay fresh and strong by seeking intimacy with the Lord through exercising various spiritual disciplines. Through the support, encouragement, and accountability that came through a small group environment, participants learned how to practice historical spiritual spiritual disciplines, identify those they believed would be most helpful for their Christian growth, and developed a plan to incorporate these into their lives.
