In addition to the training for church eldership, it includes training for sharing the faith community's perspective in the public square. This project seeks to answer the question, 'If the church is going to participate in public dialogue in the public square, who do we send?' It is the author's view that those who the Apostle Paul describes in I Timothy 3:1-7 are the people most suited for this work. In our increasingly secular age, people of faith must be encouraged that they not only have a Biblical mandate to express their witness in the public square as Jesus calls them to be 'salt and light' in the world, but that there is also plenty of precedent in American history. The author explores examples of this precedent by examining specific areas of American history."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715462317080576,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:46:53.251Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:31:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:40:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a1401e9b-60dc-4a29-bc1b-76a41cee5e8c","accessControl_ssim":["80cd5dd4-bfca-4090-9c88-746895ad2d36"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Influence of a Positive Environment on Recognizing the Missio Dei through Appreciative Inquiry: The Journey of an Urban Church Leadership Team to Missional Discovery Through the Process of Appreciative Inquiry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:31:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:50:06Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5dfa8714-7f53-424b-a8b5-044a17327e58"],"hasLease_ssim":["7f08897b-b0cd-4435-8377-2feea28ed0d5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Mark R Teasdale"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Brian E Cook"],"publisher_tesim":["Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Appreciative inquiry","City churches","Lay Church work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author researched, developed, and implemented a study on missional renewal within the organizational development model of appreciative inquiry. From 1867 to 1952, missionaries provided leadership to Wenzhou churches in the form of pastoral leadership to individual congregations. By contrast, contemporary churches of Wenzhou have been adhering to a system of patriarchal administration over a number of congregations, including the assignment of volunteer lay-preachers who are not expected to carry out any pastoral duties. This model of church leadership is found to have many problems that hindered the development of churches. The purpose of this dissertation is to explore how to build up pastoral leadership in Wenzhou. The emphasis of pastoral leadership is for pastors to lead and nurture churches. Through their leadership, preaching, pastoral care, visitation, teaching, counseling, discipleship training, evangelism, etc., they enable their flocks to grow spiritually. Since churches in Wenzhou are unique in their geography and history, it is impracticable to import entirely western modes of pastoral leadership into Wenzhou. The author has to integrate these two so as to produce contextualized modes of pastoral leadership suitable for the future development of Wenzhou churches."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Logos Evangelical Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["54e7729a-4915-469f-8fd5-c7bb7ccd6c20"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134753443807232,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:40:11.582Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:31:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:02:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"618a9be3-b5ae-4f27-b789-a8f1cf452917","accessControl_ssim":["0d6fbda7-df80-4d06-8079-189b3050627a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Factors advancing or limiting evangelical mission in Ukraine"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:31:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:59:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c65d3650-b467-49a9-b5e8-4be06367e1c6"],"hasLease_ssim":["97670e6d-988c-4258-a636-6448a9d67f4f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions"],"advisor_tesim":["David G Cashin"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"location_tesim":["Ukraine"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Timothy L Boyd"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelistic work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This research project sought to understand what factors advanced or limited evangelism in Ukraine. The results argue for the research hypotheses that organizational strategic planning is associated with organizational effectiveness."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130468492509184,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:32:05.134Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:30:42Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:37:22Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b00379da-bbf7-4045-8520-c46035d5d71f","accessControl_ssim":["fc699f61-3f8f-47cd-af98-9a10f1760cac"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A comparative church study of successful family ministry models"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:30:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:12:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["47d5dd89-dec5-452f-8a48-e3f4dfafbfea"],"hasLease_ssim":["9421779b-9e7b-4436-93ea-fabbfe5de0a2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Willie O Peterson"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["James B Logan"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with families","African American families","Family violence","Single-parent families"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The focus of this research project was on key factors for sustainable family ministry programs. Six self-identified survivors participated in a three-week Overcoming the Storm (OtS) support group focused on healing from sexual violence. Healing was defined as overcoming an undesirable condition and restoring wholeness. Healing was also related to the participants' relationships with the God of love and was directly connected to their use and interpretation of the Christian Bible. One year after the OtS support group sessions, I, as the researcher/retreat leader, gave cameras to the six participants and instructed them to take photographs on the theme of 'sexual violence and healing in your life' in preparation for participation in a spiritual retreat. Through the photovoice process, women captured images of dozens of healing aides in their lives, and seven common themes arose: children/grandchildren, Scripture, prayer, plants, the OtS support group, journaling, and nature. Children/grandchildren and Scripture were seen as the two most important healing elements for all six of the women. Prayer, plants, and the OtS support group came in second for all except one participant. Journaling and nature came in third place for two participants. In tandem with the photovoice exercise, I guided the survivors through a series of questions aimed at assisting them further in their healing journeys. Pre-retreat questionaires, post-retreat questionnaires, and retreat transcripts provided data for determining the effectiveness of using the photovoice method. The data supported my conclusion that photovoice was effective in the healing process for African American female survivors of sexual violence."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["fc8e637d-6b92-421f-936e-4844dc981265"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134272333021184,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:32:32.759Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:30:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:46:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fe1c2792-8257-4228-8871-3d3adac4691d","accessControl_ssim":["76f9701d-5dde-44b3-b421-db194633a5e8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Talking the walk: how spiritual practices influence youth's ability to articulate their faith"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:30:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:23:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e85b9c84-31c7-4abc-9943-c1c34ae086fe"],"hasLease_ssim":["ad162e2b-135a-44d8-9332-8be3b6917063"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Dwight H Judy"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jack L Mannschreck"],"keyword_tesim":["Christian education of youth","Practice (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Appreciative inquiry","Youth","Communication--Religious aspects--Christianity","Youth--Religious life","Education","Practice (Theology)","Faith development"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Talking the Walk is a participatory action research project that describes the introduction of spiritual practices to high school and junior high students with the intent of equipping them with a vocabulary that will increase their ability to articulate their faith.
