The project director researched the fields of visioning and strategy development to develop a workshop curriculum used to equip staff and lay leaders. Throughout four workshop settings, the director sought to instill a culture of strategic planning in the selected leaders as they plan and program the various ministries of the church. One primary objective behind the project was to equip ministry leaders with essential skills to develop specific visions and strategies for their ministries that would complement and accomplish the overall vision of the church. Using the Preaching Skills Enhancement Model, the project director researched the literature of expository and evangelistic preaching to identify essential invitational skills of biblically based sermons and invitations favorable for a response. The project director then assembled a select evaluation team from the congregation to complete a pre-test of his present set of invitational skills during four routine weekly messages.After this, the project director wrote and delivered a series of expository sermons and accompanying invitations intentionally utilizing the skills he discovered. Then the project director used the same evaluation team as well as an expert evaluator to complete a post-test of the development and extension of the invitations that follow the expository sermons. Welch College is a small private Christian college affiliated with the National Association of Free Will Baptists, Inc. The alumni relations strategy process involved several steps. The project director surveyed the alumni and developed an alumni profile. He explored literature on alumni relations and investigated selected colleges with alumni relations offices, determining alumni relations best practices. Applying the discovered best practices and survey data, the project director led a strategy team through planning sessions and developed an alumni relations strategy for Welch College. The final strategy included 1) a rationale for an alumni relations office, 2) office function, 3) office funding, 4) accountability, 5) budget proposal, and 6) a recommendation for the administration to adopt the strategy. The project culminated with a multimedia presentation of the alumni relations strategy to the president of Welch College, J. This research was not limited to crisis communications in a religious setting, but it examined the broader subject of crisis communications in general. This research allowed the project director to glean best practices in the field of crisis communications. The ministry project culminated in the development of a crisis communications guide to assist churches of the Southern Baptist Convention in their crisis response. The project director sought to address the growing organization's need for greater stakeholder engagement through the development of a comprehensive mobilization strategy. During the first phase of the project, the project director examined literature in the fields of mobilization and strategy development to determine best practices. He then conducted an internal audit to assess the existing mobilization processes of Nehemiah Teams. During the third phase of the project, the project director developed a mobilization strategy for Nehemiah Teams, with the intent of the strategy to guide Nehemiah Teams' organizational mobilization initiatives. This cult has continued to grow and attract pilgrims each year. In their daily life, Vietnamese are interested to take part in Marian devotional practices. They have shown their special honor and veneration to Our Lady because she is considered as a powerful and effective figure who would take help and protection over those in need. Indeed, Vietnamese are taking the image of Mary and imagining her as a source of their strength and empowerment. In its earliest days, Vietnam was indeed a matriarchal society in which women got a high status. In the history of Vietnam, some women would play their important role as female political and military leaders. In the goddess worship ritual, women would become masters of the ceremony. We realized that women’s status was high in the ancient time, but it has been declined since the patriarchal ideology of Confucianism was introduced into the country. Since then, women were more disadvantaged when compared to men in all aspects of life. Present-day, women are still treated as second class citizens. Even though the national laws give equal rights to both sexes, the issue of gender inequality and violence against women still persist in Vietnam. In order to raise the status of women, we proposed a spirituality that may transform attitudes toward women. In the specific context of a Baptist congregation in Anderson, South Carolina, this research project introduced prayer drawing as a contemplative practice. The structure of the prayer time invited participants to encounter God through drawing and coloring in an open-ended and receptive way.Each of four forty-five minute sessions utilized a schedule that (1) gave a theological and historical background for contemplative practice and the use of art in the church, (2) gave instruction on the practice of prayer drawing, (3) set a meditative tone, (4) allowed time for the practice itself (about 17 minutes), and (5) allowed time for detailed responses to reflection questions. The primary research instrument was a questionnaire that sought to ascertain the following: (1) to what degree is prayer drawing a new practice to Baptist participants and to what degree was the practice helpful, (2) in what ways did this prayer operate as a contemplative practice, (3) to what degree did this prayer modality assist in facilitating a connection with God, and what was the resultant communication, (4) in what ways did prayer drawing operate as a vehicle for God’s grace in moving participants beyond the self to glimpse a more truthful and deeper reality. The researcher compared the resulting data to themes found in literature about contemplative prayer.The data revealed an increased sensitivity and awareness of God’s movement and presence, and also indicated participants prayed in ways that were worshipful, grace-filled, transformative, and transcendent. I have served as an ordained pastor in this community for the past fifteen years. Through the funeral home, I serve as grief counselor. While assisting families in the latter capacity, it became apparent that many churches in the community did not provide care for the grieving beyond the funeral. With this information, this project was created.To reach the greatest number of people at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, the project began with a four-week sermon series. The series was designed to expose the congregation to the concepts of grief, how grief was expressed in the Bible, and the church’s responsibility to the grieving. On each Wednesday night following the Sunday morning sermon, the congregation was invited to ask questions or request clarification of the concepts presented in the sermon. This also allowed me to provide additional information about the scripture. At the conclusion of the series, they were given the opportunity to take part in a six-week focus group. The group would explore the topics further as well as identify any needs that may exist in Trinity’s approach to the grieving.The focus group met for six consecutive Sunday afternoons. They spent two weeks exploring the topics further. The following two weeks enabled participants to tell their story about grief and the support they did or did not receive. The final two weeks were spent uncovering ways that Trinity could provide additional support to the grieving. During this final two weeks, the group came up with two solid conclusions. Trinity could provide a monthly grief support group and could enhance the grief support through an existing committee at the church.
