My spiritual autobiography in this portfolio is a testimony of such a journey toward Christlikeness, a journey guided by God‚Äôs grace. Out of the various spiritual practices that exist to build up Christlikeness in believers, I consider silence a central discipline in my spiritual life. This led me to learn the fundamentals of silence and other spiritual formation methods to train myself and be transformed inwardly. I described these fundamentals as a model for spiritual growth in this portfolio. My experience of the beauty of silence and related spiritual practices also led to my desire to convey my learning and experience to the Cambodian people in my missionary work. I prepared a spiritual discipline program for Cambodian church leaders. This program introduced and fostered the ability to practice silence through examen and prayer walking. I then examined how this program affected participants. An internal auditof the congregation was conducted alongside the church’s ten-year Annual ChurchProfile data resulting in a report of areas of focus for discipleship. The project directordeveloped an annotated bibliography and report of best practices after conductingresearch in the field of disciple making. The reports of areas of focus and best practiceswere used to lead the Libby Baptist Church leadership team to develop a strategy fordisciple making. To accomplish this purpose, I first researched essential skills needed for familycentric disciple-making. From this research, I created an annotated bibliography on the subject and identified seven groupings of essential skills required to begin the familycentric disciple-making process. From these resources followed the development of acurriculum based on the skills identified. After creating the curriculum, I hosted seven sessions over four weeks for a pre-established small group of six family units ranging from newlyweds to parents of teenagers. The family-centric disciple-making curriculum taught the members of the small group to view disciple-making as more than just family Bible study but a constant part of everyday life. These skills will help the members of this group improve as spiritual leaders inside their own homes. The group composition was four pastors, two laymen, and two laywomen. The equipping consisted of six sessions conducted over eight hours in a one-day workshop. Third, the project director led a group of selected leaders through a strategy planning retreat and developed a volunteer leadership strategy. Fourth, the project director presented the strategy to the pastor and Administrative Committee for approval. The implementation of the strategywas outside the scope of this project. A pretest and posttest were used to evaluate the revitalization strategy team’s knowledge of revitalization. After considering the lifestyle of this Diaspora Catholic community and consulting with community members themselves, this thesis proposes that there is a pastoral need for a more feasible (i.e., systematically and strategically abbreviated) celebration of the Divine Liturgy so that it can continue to be a liturgy celebrated with traditional integrity for the glorification of God and for the sanctification of humanity through active liturgical participation of the baptized. Through field research undertaken both in North America and Ethiopia that included ritual observation, liturgical participation, interviews, and surveys, this study examined various strategies previously used unofficially by different Ge'ez Rite Catholic communities to address some of these pastoral challenges.
