Drawing on Pope Francis's vision of a participatory, listening Church, the study argues for a paradigm shift in Catholic school governance — one that prioritizes inclusivity, communal discernment, and collaborative decision-making as constitutive dimensions of ecclesial and educational life.\r\nEmploying a qualitative case-study methodology, the research was conducted across three Catholic secondary institutions: Minda High School, St. Bernard's High School, and St. Pius Enkanyisweni Technical College. Data were gathered through structured interviews and focus group discussions with students, educators, parents, and clergy, with the aim of identifying both the barriers that impede meaningful dialogue and the conditions that enable it.\r\nThe findings reveal that while synodal principles enjoy broad theological affirmation, their implementation in Zimbabwean Catholic schools remains uneven and constrained by hierarchical cultures, limited structures for student participation, and inadequate formation in synodal praxis. The thesis proposes a contextually grounded framework — informed by Ubuntu philosophy, Catholic social teaching, and the theology of synodality — for fostering a culture of listening, mutual accountability, and shared responsibility within Catholic educational institutions.\r\nPrimarily, this study seeks to advance educational practices that honor the dignity, agency, and diverse experiences of students, thereby contributing to a more authentically synodal expression of Catholic schooling in the Zimbabwean context and beyond.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-EDU/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/6b99fc2e-ba36-40e3-b557-46eab125ba9a?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["6b99fc2e-ba36-40e3-b557-46eab125ba9a"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["6b99fc2e-ba36-40e3-b557-46eab125ba9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["mmadzivanzira@student.ctu.edu"],"_version_":1864565981225943040,"timestamp":"2026-05-07T21:18:07.540Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-05-06T18:06:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-05-12T21:50:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"db5d6777-5feb-4f40-ac02-b6acac5132f6","accessControl_ssim":["bb6d15d2-7c22-432d-96a9-e6d9f140f8d8"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["5e168556-a950-4263-8f59-bdf7ee336cde"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["5e168556-a950-4263-8f59-bdf7ee336cde"],"depositor_ssim":["shazia.aslam@ctschicago.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["shazia.aslam@ctschicago.edu"],"title_tesim":["Addiction in the Muslim Communities in the United States, a Mosque Based Manual for Prevention, Support and Referral"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-05-06T18:06:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-05-12T21:50:02Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f43f277d-9500-46a5-affa-f1a171a9f925"],"hasLease_ssim":["64c3939d-accf-469a-a8a4-74b96ce18d1f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Chicago Theological Seminary"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Bayan Islamic Graduate School"],"year_tesim":["2026"],"resource_type_tesim":["Thesis"],"types_tesim":["Dataset","Text","Image"],"creator_tesim":["Shazia Aslam, M.D"],"keyword_tesim":["Islamic Theology","Addiction"],"subject_tesim":["Drug use","Treatments","Muslims","Addiction"],"abstract_tesim":["Rahma رحمة), The Arabic term derives from the root r-h-m and conveys the meaning of mercy, compassion, tenderness and care towards each other; this is one of the attributes of God Almighty:  Al Rehman, Al- Rahim, emphasizing mercy as a central ethical principle in Islam. This raises the question that if mercy is a core value of one’s faith, then why individuals struggling with addiction are hesitant to seek help within their community.\r\nThis study explores the context of addiction within muslim communities in the United States, its perception and barriers in help- seeking support, and the role of mosques in prevention through education, referral, and reintegration. The project addresses a recurring ministry and leadership problem: a gap between leaders’ professed moral and spiritual commitments—such as care, dignity, and justice—and the operational practices that shape organizational life, often resulting in relational harm, burnout, and diminished trust. Employing a Practical Theological Method grounded in an iterative praxis cycle, the project engages lived leadership experience, critically reflects on the spiritual traditions of Metta, Agápē, Chesed, and Ubuntu, and integrates interdisciplinary insights from psychology, neuroscience, and organizational studies. The findings reveal that loving-kindness is not a passive or sentimental posture, but rather a disciplined, boundary-honoring leadership ethic that requires clarity, accountability, and just structures. To support implementation, the project offers an original Operating Model incorporating Four Levels of Leadership (Self, Others, Leaders, and Organizations) and seven core Loving-Kindness Leadership Practices. The project demonstrates that when loving-kindness is operationalized, it bridges belief and practice, fostering relational safety, ethical presence, and durable human and organizational flourishing."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/82d2d638-76dd-4960-8aba-9108b4bef497?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["82d2d638-76dd-4960-8aba-9108b4bef497"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Doctor of Ministry Dissertations and Projects"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["061a0024-1d62-4dba-b274-091512484660"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["82d2d638-76dd-4960-8aba-9108b4bef497"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["meadville.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["jdechant@meadville.edu"],"_version_":1864449847838375936,"timestamp":"2026-05-06T14:32:14.111Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-05-05T15:28:49Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-05-05T15:28:55Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a80b8768-6d87-4804-aaff-4cd84f31512a","accessControl_ssim":["52f54851-a536-4eb3-b431-535bb17fdc3c"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["8c70275f-1308-494d-aefe-cc3620048c2e"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["8c70275f-1308-494d-aefe-cc3620048c2e"],"depositor_ssim":["frankq142@gmail.com"],"depositor_tesim":["frankq142@gmail.com"],"title_tesim":["Reflecting the Kingdom of God: Interculturality as a Praxis of Ministry for Multicultural Parishes"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-05-05T15:28:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-05-05T15:28:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d5cd7a8b-7290-457e-a97e-0c2577799240"],"hasLease_ssim":["14ec6a9c-1553-4fd5-9349-82bd0b1e0f64"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"year_tesim":["2026"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The case study meticulously examined the elements of ethnic coexistence, cultural and linguistic dominance, disparities in ethnic integration into the new community, power imbalances, and parish administrative structures as potential root causes of and perpetuation of ethnic segregation within multicultural Catholic parishes. In response to the challenges posed by a divided parish and the aspiration to transform it into a reflection of the Kingdom of God, as described in the Lumen Gentium, which portrays the church as the beginning of the Kingdom of God, the thesis proposes interculturality grounded on the perichoretic community as a transformative praxis. Employing practical theology and qualitative methods, the study analyzes Catholic–Muslim relations alongside African Traditional Religious frameworks of coexistence. It argues that Western institutional models of interreligious dialogue inadequately account for Ghana’s lived, communal pluralism. Drawing on indigenous values such as sacred hospitality, relational personhood, and ritual praxis, the thesis proposes an inculturated model of dialogue that is both faithful to Catholic teaching and responsive to Ghanaian socio-religious realities."],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/2e0a48fd-c118-44f5-8415-43c81c0d1ce1?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["2e0a48fd-c118-44f5-8415-43c81c0d1ce1"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["2e0a48fd-c118-44f5-8415-43c81c0d1ce1"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["mananeadjei@student.ctu.edu"],"_version_":1863956620208242688,"timestamp":"2026-05-01T03:52:35.588Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-04-29T18:54:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-04-29T19:04:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f13420ce-d98b-4539-a41a-b7e8bba4af64","accessControl_ssim":["0ab8de65-e363-49e8-a5b6-fa3b5606e596"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["5cf3fce0-ebe0-4b1a-b6ee-462d5c08631a"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["5cf3fce0-ebe0-4b1a-b6ee-462d5c08631a"],"depositor_ssim":["frankq142@gmail.com"],"depositor_tesim":["frankq142@gmail.com"],"title_tesim":["Reflecting the Kingdom of God: Interculturality as a Praxis of Ministry for Multicultural Parishes"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-04-29T18:54:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-04-29T19:04:35Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1ecdf243-9c34-4fcc-aa63-e1eab6ee6964"],"hasLease_ssim":["e7ab7786-ad91-4592-b47f-4c2fb4069291"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"year_tesim":["2026"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The study examines the factors that contribute to and perpetuate ethnic community division within multicultural parishes. Participants named colonial wounds, reconnected with ancestral wisdom, and envisioned new ways of belonging to God and community. The retreat fostered movement from internalized shame toward cultural affirmation and prophetic imagination, offering a model for decolonized Christian formation that nurtures embodied, communal, intergenerational, and contextual expressions of faith."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["3df011d0-8abf-40e1-bcb8-0d2628dbd35f-default-approving","3df011d0-8abf-40e1-bcb8-0d2628dbd35f-default-depositing","3df011d0-8abf-40e1-bcb8-0d2628dbd35f-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["RIM uploads"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","styberg.library@garrett.edu"],"_version_":1863361520639934464,"timestamp":"2026-04-24T14:13:44.414Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
