Data gathered are the results of the evauation of a four month program for an alcohol prevention project.  Thirty two adults made up the target group.  Subjects were pre- and post-tested on the following variables:  building bonds, mobilizing coalitions, increasing awareness in skills and resources and mobilizing family and extended family. Results indicated that the program had a significant positive impact on the target subjects in reference to all variables tested. With a special reference to Kenya, he studied the genesis and survival of this practice to the present day, documenting side effects of this inhuman terror against women.  The method of study included secondary resources from existing documented information and oral interviews.  The author concluded that eradication of female genital mutilation will be accomplished by consistent interdisciplinary efforts by the communities of faith, the medical community and women-based non-governmental organizations.  Education at the grassroots village level will lead to empowerment of women and eradication of these atrocities and crimes by a male dominated culture. A lay mobilization process and assimilation method was put into place to integrate people and build disciples. A staffing plan was implemented in the process. Five double-blind experiments using written exercises tested that hypothesis in small groups at Four Oaks Community Church in Tallahassee, Florida. Questionnaires, focus groups, and interviews further explored the plausibility of the hypothesis. Neither the quantitative nor the qualitative measures were able to establish the hypothesis conclusively. Yet there have been few established norms or standards for this practice. This study has been undertaken in an effort to identify and explore meaningful proclamation of the Word with children. Initial explorations include a theological and biblical rationale for the children's sermon, focusing on pertinent Old and New Testament texts. The study describes the meaning of Christian worship and includes a section on the importance of including children in worship and a discussion of what children bring to worship. This research supports a hermeneutic for children by presenting objections to children's sermons and defining the nature of a sermon. The hermeneutic centers on the theory of multiple intelligences developed by Howard Gardner. The study concludes that a children's sermon contributes to the unity of worship, is a form of catechesis, a conversation, and an agent of awe. Appropriate language and concepts for the sermon are suggested. A workshop model concludes the study. It presents the results of the research in a six hour format which is inductive and participatory. It is designed for all who have an interest in strengthening the children's sermon. Pitfalls in the children's sermon are highlighted. Seminars taught enhancement of communication, resolutions of conflict, and time and money management skills. The writer measured definite positive cognitive, attitudinal, and behavioral changes in the majority of the project participants. This conflict relates to the music employed by congregations in their liturgies. In our work, we show that the problem they encounter is not a theological one, as some leaders claim, but a cultural type. Our thesis is that both the 1930's and 1990's hymnodies of the Disciples in Puerto Rico reflect the Christian hope of its members during critical moments. Although with different theological approaches, the final purpose of both hymnodies is the same: the proclamation of a message of salvation. Our study is mostly descriptive with an explanatory goal regarding particular human behavior. Three resources were used to attain our goal: an analysis of the social and economic realities of Puerto Rico; popular knowledge gathered through interviews; and the new hymn book published for the Hispanic churches by the Christian Board of Publications in the United States. Our dissertation proposes a strategy formulation to reduce the tension but also to propitiate positive changes within any given congregation. Research data from numerous sources provide a portrait of welfare in the United States and was used to implement educational and motivational activities to empower affected families making the transition to self-sufficiency. After completion of the project, participating recipients were prepared to make the transition.
