The method of research included assisting participants to clarify their beliefs through a confession of faith workshop; engaging in action-reflection experiences before and after the retreat; and utilizing a theological reflection model to improve analysis and assessment of pastoral care experiences.  This project also included the design and utilization of two diagnostic tools. In the research project nine consultant interventions were developed and then evaluated by clergy and laity.  The researcher concludes that consultants can express their ecclesiological position to client congregations as long as this nurtures the consulting relationship.  He proposes that congregational support for baptismal ministry can be ethically influenced through personal self-disclosure by the consultant and a mutual exploration of ecclesiology. Using a qualitative method, caregivers shared their stories answering the question: What were the experiences of 'burnout' which contributed to developing codependent moments in your caregiving relations? Codependent moments are defined as those moments when the caregiver is disabled by the issues shared by the person seeking care. Baptismal ministry is the primary ministry, a ministry of engagement in God's mission in the world. Using focus groups of ordained leaders as the basis, the thesis asks how ordained leadership could more effectively encourage the ministry of the baptized, how obstacles may be identified and overcome, and how the influences on ordained ministry can be managed while maintaining a focus on service to baptismal ministries. The surveys revealed that Black men do not attend church because of: poor and irrelevant sermons; lack of a meaningful worship experience; disbelief in God because spiritual values were not emphasized while growing up; and hypocrisy of church members and leaders.
