Typologies offer a structured way to analyze a congregation's identity.  Historical research and survey instruments create a way to evalute a congregation's identity. Workshops on past, present, and future, along with group discussions, develop a congregation's identity. The results of the study show that congregations can create an accepted body of knowledge about themselves. Using a specific teaching model, project participants reflected on present attitudes and actions about gender in light of a call to freedom and inclusiveness.  The project disclosed that using affirmation is a viable strategy.  However, the issue of inclusiveness defies simple treatment.  It touches every area of private and social life, and seats of legitimation vary. A worship team made up of Lakeland members created drama and media-augmentation for a series of sermons preached by the pastor.  The project revealed that drama and media-augmentation inserted into a sermon captured the congregation's attention and increased the congregation's ability to listen to the message. The project was taught to and evaluated by youth ministers, high school seniors, and professional student workers.
