This was secondary, however, to the primary objective of learning inductively how to better understand, appreciate, and assimilate God's gracious gift of 'living forgiven.' The hypothesis states that an effective Christian leader maximizes his strengths, minimizes his weaknesses, and develops in Christlike character in order to attract others to accomplish a common vision.  To validate the hypothesis, two leaders were chosen who pastor visibly successful churches.  Through the use of questionnaire, the Personal Profiles System (Performax), on-site observation, and church documentation, the case study ascertained whether the senior pastors were operating from a strength-based methodology.  Questions focusing on the five areas of the hypothesis were asked of the senior pastor, two staff members, two board members, the pastor's spouse, and twenty-five members of the congregation chosen at random. Since the goal of evangelism is seen as making disciples, the strategy places heavy emphasis on assimilating new believers into the local church.  Ten New Testament principles of evangelism form the basis for evaluating the three case studies as well as providing the theological orientation for the strategy.  The three-step strategy takes a chronological approach to the task of local church evangelism. Many existing programs of evangelism emphasize the knowledge and experience of the presenter of the gospel.  The emphasis of this project will be on recognizing and ministering to the needs of the receiver of the gospel message, the international student.  The eleven-session project includes two evaluation sessions and one session on the biblical basis for evangelism among international students.  The remaining nine sessions are designed to train American students to develop personal relationships with internationals.  These relationships should become channels through which the gospel is communicated. Training sessions will include information that will prepare the participants to communicate cross-culturally. Participants will also be trained to develop relationships by ministering in three specific areas.  These areas include physical, relational, and spiritual needs.
