A four-session training event focusing on the historical, literary, and theological dimensions of biblical interpretation aided in achieving this goal.  A 16-page interpretive guide was created and utilized to assist lay people in the process of accuracy and understanding. Evaluative questionnaires were employed to ascertain understanding and growth. Both children and adults were educated on the faith development and worship capabilities of children in the corporate worship setting. Biblical and psychological research was used to formulate sermons, worship manuals, and aids.  A worship committee comprised of adults and children planned and evaluated a corporate worship service to reflect the goals. The project provided a formal structure for mutual sharing between clergy and laity, with the intent of meeting felt needs within the congregation.  The methodology involved a survey of the congregation to surface needs, the training of a group of people to give feedback to the preacher, and discussion to prepare sermons and to evaluate their effectiveness. This project was designed to improve the relationship between parents and teenagers by improving their communication skills.  It was a six-week course and used a praxis approach to learning. Parents and teenagers participated together in the class. Based upon pretest and posttest scores, adults in this project achieved a greater degree of improvement in communication skills than the teenagers. This project tested the thesis that the initial commitment of new church members to the congregation could be strengthened as the church helped new members discover and utilize their spiritual gifts in ministry.  The project involved six teaching sessions on spiritual gifts and a five-week ministry experience, matching new members' spiritual gifts with ministry needs within the church. The purpose of this practicum/project is to investigate methods that facilitate the incorporation of elementary age children into the morning worship hour.  This practicum was conducted over a seven-week period during which time eight lay pastors conducted a total of forty-two interviews with children who attended a medium-size county seat church.
