The sessions explored basic models of communication, understanding oneself in the context of communication, developing verbal skills, developing nonverbal skills, and developing listening skills.  Two testing instruments were used as pre-tests and post-tests.  Test scores indicated a significant increase in interpersonal communication skills. The process of training began with the selection of ten key women involved in mission education at their churches.  Specific training with co-church members was provided for the five women chosen to continue in the project.  The women were encouraged to see that ministry through activities on property and the building of relationships for evangelism was the entry point, but the beginning of on-site congregations was the goal.  Mission-minded women are interested in the needs of multihousing communities and are willing to be trained, but need a structure within which to work, and are hesitant to begin congregationalizing efforts without much encouragement and support from their church leaders. The most success in treating this disease has come through a renewal of one's spirituality. Personal spirituality focuses on one's higher power, the self, relationships, surrender, conversion, trust, and a host of other issues, which are all core parts of the AA program.  This paper has used the alcoholic and the recovery process of AA's twelve steps as a paradigm for growth in spirituality for everyone facing a variety of dis-eases that disrupt modern life.  This process has been correlated with biblical insights and concepts as the foundation of Christian spirituality. The ministry challenge addressed by this thesis is the intentional introduction and cultivation of interventions to develop characteristics which will move an aggregate congregation toward becoming a covenant fellowship, thus becoming more attractive to the seekers as well as more responsive to their needs.  The conclusions reached in this study are that it is possible to create those physical characteristics of a covenant fellowship within a congregation which make a difference in retaining active members.
