It shows ways to identify that grief, and pictures the dynamics of three congregations in grief. A plan for ministry is presented for an eight-week small-group process which allows for a time of gathering together, a presentation of material for the discipline to be practiced during the following week, time for sharing the previous week's experience, a time for members to share concerns or celebrations, and a time of prayer. The project tests and evaluates this hypothesis with a sample of six children (3 girls/3 boys) and their pastor.  The project has the pastor meeting with the children in two sessions and using developmentally appropriate materials.  Curriculum includes drawing, Bible story-telling, artistic interaction, use of published literature, and a personal interview with each child participant. Some stories reveal a problem of nonforgiveness among the people. Theological research reveals that though our memories will not release our hurts, there must be some sharing of God's grace and forgiveness between the members of the church. When a minister discovers a problem like nonforgiveness, there must be some constructive way to address the problem without inflaming past wounds. This project describes the process used to compile a handbook for local church pastors with specific focus on white 'Old Yankee' Protestant women over the age of seventy-five.
