Six notes of spiritual discipline are sounded and investigated by fifteen project associates. The latter objective is addressed through the design and testing of a workshop format which included general information on homosexuality, social issues, AIDS, Scripture and theology and general ministry to and with homosexual persons. The result informs four tasks of pastoral care: 1) training of volunteer leadership, 2) planning job careers with teens, 3) offering spiritual direction, and 4) assisting worship leaders in their planning.  Pastoral care is trinitarian.  Gifts given in creation (personality types) provide the means to the common unity to which the Church is called (sanctification). Such harmony is made possible through atonement (redemption). Decisions are made by consensus.  Plurality is acknowledged. Variety is cherished. It focuses primarily on practical techniques which laypersons can use to interpret the Bible.  This process entails a cycle of four readings and seven interpretive questions.  Primary emphasis is placed on using the guidelines from normal human language and the original author's intent to approach the text of Scripture.  The practical analytical procedures allow laypersons to do individual Bible study with the incremented incorporation of research tools and study aids.
