The author examines the task of application from a historical, theological, and theoretical standpoint.  The focus of the study is twenty-four pastors from the Evangelical Free Church of America.  The author uses a content analysis approach to study the unique methods of application used by John Broadus, G Campbell Morgan, D Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and Charles Swindoll. Twelve methods of application are isolated from these four homileticians to develop a Methods of Application Self-Reporting Inventory. The 119 students listen to introductory lectures and engage in individual study. They then are divided into eighteen groups.  Each group is assigned a paragraph and writes a commentary on their section.  The results of the project suggest that writing a biblical commentary can be a useful endeavor for high school students. Research into the current literature on marriage, an interview with a clinical psychologist, and questionnaires indicate that communication and conflict resolution skills are vital for good marriages.  Exercises are assigned to the couples during the seminar to put these skills into practice. The major biblical concepts of marriage and sexuality are presented. Five small groups participated in a ten-month program of spiritual formation using John Wesley's 'band' model.  A questionnaire was administered to the small groups and the rest of the congregation before and after the program.  The small groups experienced significannt spiritual renewal but the remainder of the congregation did not. It focuses on the problems and possibilities for ministers who share ministry with the same congregation.  From Phyllis Trible's God and the Rhetoric of Sexuality the author takes the definition of feminism as a critique of culture in light of misogyny.  This definition provides the starting point for her critique of ministry.  From Elisabeth Schuessler Fiorenza's book In Memory of Her she learns the ways of feminist hermeneutics which serve as a critical tool for viewing the development of the church and ministry and as a constructive tool for seeing and creating new possibilities in ministry. Shared ministry, the possibility which the author envisions, applies a feminist hermeneutics to the life of the church.
