Such worship should take account of the way people develop morally and spiritually.  The models of Lawrence Kohlberg in moral development and of James Fowler in faith development are examined and related to current concepts in Christian worship and social ethics.  Five worship services and sermons were used to test developmental strategies on social-ethical themes. Organizations working with the physically handicapped were investigated for their findings, procedures and assistance.  Organizations made up of disabled persons and a select number of pastors, doctors, and other professionals were interviewed concerning their work with handicapped persons. Five workshops, with continual evaluation and reflection, were conducted in three settings: in a cluster of churches, in a continuing education course for ministers involving theological reflection, and in one local church.  There was steady growth in understanding by facilitator and participants. This project was accomplished by the author with the help of his congregation by developing a statement of mission and purpose.  Goals for continuing ministries developed from that statement then led to the necessity of expanding the facilities and, in this case, completely relocating them. The new facilities were consecrated in June, 1981, with over half of the total cost paid. The hypothesis was:  Effective incorporation and nurture of early adolescents in the Christian initiation process, particularly through preparation for Confirmation, is dependent upon a structured and active involvement on the part of the parents and godparents/sponsors in the faith community of the local parish.  A confirmation program was designed for 6th-graders and their parents.  Two tracks, one for the 6th-graders and one for the parents, ran concurrently during an eight-month period. It developed out of the pastor's and the church's reflection of their theological understanding of the church and its mission. Informed by that understanding, a preliminary investigation of the status of the First Baptist Church School was undertaken.  The staff and pastor moved to develop a healthier church school.  Out of an intentional and interactive agenda came goals that were acted out in the church school's ministry. The proposed model was tested with five selected test training groups and evaluated by trainee-evaluators of the same test groups.  The result was positive.
