Chapter one defines the background as well as the aim of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Attention is given to the opportunities provided for the volunteers. Chapter two begins with the biblical images for social ministry as being the bedrock for visitation and care-giving. Specifically, this chapter analyzes the theological reflections and its influences on the growth and nurture of the church. Chapter three identifies the historical significance of hospitals and nursing homes. Attention is also given to the nature and structure of hospitals and nursing homes. Chapter four addresses the selection of volunteers for training in hospital visitation. An analysis of the instruments used for preparation is included. Chapter one provides the context of the church and community settings. The goals, definitions, and limitations are also given. Chapter two gives the biblical, theological, and historical basis for building teams to do ministry. Moses, Paul, and Jesus provide the biblical examples while John Wesley is used as a historical case for teamwork in ministry. Chapter three examines the contemporary secular and Christian resources to inform the project. teamwork, leadership, the purpose statement, core values, vision, and strategy are examined to provide an overview of intentional leadership. Chapter four covers what happened during the three-month project. Giving a report of what happened and who was involved, this chapter focuses on giving the facts of what happened. Chapter five is the evaluation of the project. This chapter shares the goals that were met and those that were not. Franklin Baptist Church that were made during childhood in order to ascertain whether or not these professions of faith were authentic salvation experiences. A biblical examination is made of conversion, its application to children, and the possibility of false professions of faith. Childhood professions of faith are examined from psychological,  sociological, and historical points of view. Social research is used to determine the authenticity of the professions of faith that the congregation of Mt. Franklin Baptist Church made during childhood. Biblical models of leadership training are examined from both the Old Testament (Ex 18:19-23) and the New Testament (Eph 4:11-16). Both the negative and the positive aspects of leadership are also discussed. A survey is presented that was administered to leaders, potential leaders and past volunteers. The survey was designed to reveal areas of need for leadership training. Finally the project is evaluated to reveal insights on how to enlist and meet the needs of volunteer leaders. This project shows that spiritual direction enhances the marriages of five couples in a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska, as they share their experiences of God with each other. Seven persons who helped start and continue this church for the poor and homeless were interviewed regarding what influenced their involvement in this mission. Wesleyan, Methodist, theological and other influences were implicitly indicated in their responses. More explicit theological reflection was used to enhance an understanding of this ministry. The program used directed spiritual exercises related to self-disclosure coupled with the writing and sharing of spiritual autobiographies to help the participants to develop closer relationships with each other. The project explored biblical literature pertaining to relationships among the Trinity as well as New Testament literature concerning relationships among humans. It also explored literature pertaining to Western cultural expectations of men as they affect men's relationships and literature relevant to self-disclosure among men. The research model used is both ethnographic and pro-active from the point of view of a participant/observer.
