The six-week partnership between the Second Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio and the Hospice at Riverside and Grant Community Grief Program provided education, resources, and support to persons within the first year of grief related to the loss of a loved one. The hypothesis was that biblical preaching which connects with Generation X could be identified by means of two elements.  First, it is identified by the ways in which it seeks to address the distinguishing characteristics of Generation X people.  Second, it can be identified by specific qualities inherent in the act of preaching to Generation X people.  The research project involved listening to and evaluating thirty sermons preached by Generation X practitioners.  Three sermons were solicited from each of ten practitioners chosen for study.  Each was evaluated for their method of preaching. Specific evaluation categories wer related to sermon content, sermon delivery, and the degree to which the sermon was modeled after the teaching style of Jesus.  Two specific sermon evaluation tools were designed and used in the course of this study.  Each evaluates the sermon in eleven evaluation categories using the Likert scale method and provides the opportunity for the collection of anecdotal evidence as well.  This study led to the development of a specific model to be used in preaching to postmodern people.  This model is make up of four critical qualities of preaching.  The first quality of this model is preaching that is Scripture-steeped; postmodern preaching must develop the means to help people experience the Scriptures. Second, postmodern preaching must be relationally engaging; it must draw people toward the process of journeying and growing in community together. Third, it must be highly relevant; our preaching must relate to the individual life of the hearer as well as the wider cultural context. The methodology used was a sociological model of communication-dialogue, which included the Spiritual Journeys of two multicultural pastors and dialogue between two multicultural groups.  The applied treatment revealed little difference between the two cultures as it relates to ideas about Christianity.  There were differences, however, in how the two cultures viewed each other. Through a qualitative approach, the author developed a manual that facilitated its content in a support group. This project at Parkvue Healthcare in Sandusky, Ohio met families in their daily lives by providing scripture based suggestions for proactive relationship building.  A pretest of family members ascertained the degree of connection to their resident and related areas of anxiety.  Following the pretest, a monthly Internet correspondence was established providing scripture, exegesis, reflection and a suggested action. This author used surveys and individual interviews with A. M. E. pastors to assess the reassignment process.  The findings indicated that the absence of communication before reassignment had the emotional effect associated with loss, diminishing Itinerant Elder authority in ministry and their role as a partner in the vision for the church.
