The author and the participants prepared for the implementation of the ministry by using instruction on Christian and Buddhist doctrines, case studies, and the FAITH process in ministry and witnessing. The author and the participants then discovered physical needs of selected Japanese Buddhists. These partners are the Baptist ministry center directors, state baptist conventions/fellowships, and local Baptist associations. The practical means of developing the partnership was the development of an assessment tool for the ministry centers. Once the tool was developed, it was field tested in seven Baptist ministry centers. The testing was also done in partnership as the various partners came together at the centers for an on-site visit and assessment. Their party-indoctrinated worldview presented obstacles in comprehending the gospel. There is a need for a training model to equip the Christians to understand their mentality and be able to present the gospel to them. This project is a twelve session hands-on training seminar. It provided a support structure for the participants to pray for and engage in evangelism. It motivated the participants with the biblical mandate for cross-cultural evangelism. It equipped them with the necessary knowledge for communicating the gospel. The project consisted of five sessions. The project leader presented information that examined biblical foundations, community information, and models of other community ministries programs. A ministry opportunity was also offered as a learning experience in addition to the reading assignment of Real Hope in Chicago. As a result, the participants gained increased awareness of community needs as well as possible solutions. A workshop was developed and conducted by Wade Robertson for the leadership team of the Friendship Baptist Fellowship of Pocola, Oklahoma. The six hours and fifteen minutes of the workshop covered the areas of: God's purpose for the world; biblical foundations for teamwork; a holisitic system of Christian education; ministry alignment; forming people-centered goals; and developing a total church strategy for making disciples. The project objectives were brought into focus through the teaching workshop lectures and learning activities. The participants filled out pre-/post-workshop questionnaires, designed to show change in understanding of the project concept and change in perspective. They also wrote an evaluation. An outside observer visited the workshop and gave an evaluation. The primary objective of the project was achieved through the team's voluntary forming of an age-group team. Two progressive steps accomplish this goal. First, endorsement of multicultural ministry applying to all areas of church life is secured through official action by the church. The church's written position on multicultural ministry makes it possible for emerging multiethnic leaders to function in the church. Second, a leadership development seminar is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for leadership development in the multicultural context. Participants are trained in leadership principles relating to culture, character, and competency. The participants are already functioning leaders in the church and enter into mentoring relationships with potential leaders of a different ethnic background than their own. M. E. Church, Yellow Springs, Ohio.  Through the use of sermons, Bible Studies, workshops, and music appreciation seminars, data was gathered and studied.  Included in this study was a six-month series of church music appreciation courses that was mandatory for all musicians, choir members, worship leaders, and ministers.  It was evaluated through a pre-course and post-course survey.
