The project builds on a qualitative analysis of theological and clinical research on priestly identity, and the etiology and treatment of the disease of alcoholism.  Through the development and use of a clinical questionnaire seventeen clinicians from a major treatment center give recommendations for treatment and the implications for the wider diocesan community.  Involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous is stressed as part of this holistic response. These perspectives are brought into dialogue as they elucidate the story that unfolded in an interview with one former client who has cut. A review of the literature on (1) Generation X and their spiritual and religious needs (2) pastoral ministry to this population, and (3) ministry in military was completed.  Qualitative data on the needs of this population was gathered in discussion groups of Generation X personnel in the Air Force. Historically, classroom teaching has concentrated on an outline of essential Christian doctrines while preaching has relied primarily on the telling of the Good News of Jesus.  The early church did the exact opposite among those whom they taught and preached. The survey was distributed in a two-church United Methodist Charge in central Pennsylvania. This dissertation provides a theoretical examination of these issues, including the biblical treatment of widows, sexuality and intimacy, age, and the place of widows in the church.  A group of women, most of whom are widows, examined these issues.  Following their consideration of these issues, this group designed and developed an ongoing ministry program with widows.  The process used to examine these issues and develop the ministry program is described in this dissertation. These differences cannot be reconciled, but by approaching Creation Spirituality as an aspect of sanctification, much of its teaching can be incorporated into a Lutheran theology.  The result of this integration is a Lutheran Creation Spirituality.
