It introduces the sermonplay as a new sermonic form and offers six models of the form for possible application and adaption during Sunday services.  Analysis of productions of three of the sermonplays at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tampa, Florida, results in the recommendations that could prove helpful to interested clergy and Theology should speak to that which we hold most cherished together.  Our congregations need to create a common, shared theology that goes beyond the little boxes of post enlightenment belief with which our love for individualism has left us.  We need a way to create a new normative theology in each congregation that helps us collectively formulate spiritual reasons for what we do, at once both accessible to us as individuals, but definitive enough so that each congregation could refer to that theology as a foundation from which to make justice.  The thesis of this project is that a shared leadership curriculum would begin to reinvigorate our foundational purpose and drive out congregations toward theologically grounded action.  I propose that the curriculum explore answers to several questions of ultimate purpose: 1) What is the nature of hope? 2) What is our response to racism and oppression? 3) What is the best response to suffering? 4) What is our individual and collective purpose?  The overall learning goal of this curriculum is heuristic: To help a group of people think theologically in community and this empower their religious life.  Specifically, this curriculum is to be used by leadership groups in a congregation as a guide to think generatively and theologically about their work. The model of ministry with the terminally ill which is proposed here draws from humanist and feminist streams of thought which encourage an empowering, along-side role of companionship for the minister. (b) How mass communication aids and ebets like-minded groups, causing increased polarization and diviseness; (c) Insights into the nature and form of the human argumentative proccess; and (d) The innate epistemic vigilance humans possess to evaluate arguments and how this unique human characteristic can be employed to produce opportunities for both individual and societal change and transformation through dialogue.  The commonly held belief that people can't change which condemns us all to accepting the miseries and dysfunction so apparent in the world.  This study will re-phrase this misbelief to say that people can't change unless (a) they are open to change and (b) they are provided with the tools to change.  Current literature in both psychology and neuroscience rebuts the idea that humans are fixed and inadaptable.  Research in both medical and nonmedical therapies show not only that people can change but also that humans are biologically built to change.  This occurs both as a result of the brain's ability to re-assign physical tasks from a nonfunctioning area of the brain to another functioning area, and also the capacity to change a brain function from what was previously thought to be useful in a singular way, such as a visual function to a sensory function.  But o f equal importance is research that shows that the mind's simple thought processes can change the brain, resulting in behavioral changes.
