Staff members tend to fall back on 'pat' answers that can sometimes cause the patient or family members to have even more unresolved spiritual issues.This project sought to determine whether or not hospice staff could become more empowered to give quality spiritual care by being introduced to the basics of pastoral care to the dying and their families. Information was shared by way of presentations; practical experience was gained by role-playing and shadowing.The pre-test/post-test scores indicate that the participants learned the basic theology of pastoral care to dying patients and their families. There was enthusiastic verbal affirmation of the process, including the desire to repeat the project for a longer period of time. Luke"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This ministry project's goal was to seek transformation in attitudes and commitment to missions at the Mt. Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. The goal of transformation was to guide the congregation's mission practices to be exemplary of its 'Missionary' name and the overall mission of the church as discovered in Luke-Acts and in the Abrahamic Covenant.The project tested the attitudes and commitment to missions from the Missionary Society in comparison to the general congregation. The project revealed both strengths and weaknesses in the attitudes and commitments of the Missionary Society and the congregation about missions. The research from the project revealed that there were strong contradictions between the findings from the surveys completed by the project participants and the content from the discussions during the training exercises. Believing scripture affirms sexuality as a blessing from God, parents and middle school youth were recruited and led through the study. Surveys measured attitudes, opinions, and understanding of biblical knowledge, anatomy, and communication levels. After the program the families were given two months to observe parent/child communication. Believing small groups, discussions of the after life, and the power of storytelling are affirmed throughout scripture, individuals were recruited and led through the study. Surveys measured opinions on heaven and small groups among the entire congregation and the small group participants. Following the study, the participants were surveyed one final time on both subjects. The presence of UPGs in the U.S. creates an opportunity for a “bridge” to make it easier for both the U.S. church to engage the UPGs and vice versa.  I engaged with a partner who is working with a population of Afghans in a large U.S city, by implementing two STM trips with our church. The objective of this project was to study the spiritual care of missionaries within the ministry context of Make Way Partners (MWP). The ministry context of MWP is to prevent and combat human trafficking. The context of this project was in the country of Sudan, in and near Darfur.In particular, the study addressed the possibility that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator might aid the leadership of MWP in predicting how missionaries might respond to stress in the field. Also, the project provided an opportunity to find a tool to help evaluate those missionaries who experience trauma due to the stress of the field. Ruth","Church work with youth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project explored the transformational growth of high school students who served children in homeless crisis by implementing a pilot program at the Fort Wayne Charis House. The findings revealed student growth in three goal areas: greater cultural understanding, greater appreciation for life situation, and greater motivation to serve. The project explored biblical foundations and the causes and consequences of families in homeless crisis. It also examined similarities between “service learning” in the public schools and integrative ministry. Insight has value onlywhen shared with others. A series of mnemonic devices found in Scripture are keys to maintaining a successful spiritual walk. These methods, proven throughout church history, require diligent retention and dispersal of information in the context of relational support. Ethnographic research in rural Ostfrisian communities indicates that when routinely practiced, these methods form broad spiritual patterns that reflect a deepening commitment to faith issues. This project reveals indicators that assist eidetic recall of spiritual events. The equipping model was a relevant and applicable model to meet the needs addressed by this project. The project director selected a team of leaders from Blackhawk Ministries to be trained in biblical discipleship skills. In preparation for that training the project director researched the field of discipleship, built an annotated bibliography, and developed a list of core competencies to be incorporated into a curriculum created to equip the selected leaders. Three specific goals guided the course of the project. Those goals were to (1) research the field of discipleship to identify core biblical discipleship competencies, (2) develop a curriculum to equip selected leaders, and (3) equip selected leaders with discipleship competencies. To ensure the meeting of these goals, the project director utilized curriculum design training, research, expert evaluators, rubrics, checklists, evaluation forms, and training sessions.
