When a group of laypersons participated in an educational project on worship, the group developed an increased understanding of the meaning, purpose, and practice of worship. They learned tools necessary to develop creative liturgies, and used these tools to participate with clergy and staff in planning and carrying out liturgy for corporate worship. This project suggests a better understanding of ministry and church office, educational programs, and important implications that are necessary for the Korean Church to activate lay ministry. The practice of confirmation in a local church provided the setting for the project, conducted over a 13-week period with persons between adolescence and adulthood. Investors owning and buying properties for speculation place the church in a lopsided competition for property ownership.  Assumptions of some churchgoers who understand the steepled church building as an authenticating symbol require a pastor to address perceptions hindering church growth.  This project offers findings that suggest that people are tied to a steepled-church concept. The project employs a pro-active research method to study the practice of peer counseling with African American youth. The Teen Connection project found that African American youth desire help from others, are receptive to help from peers, and are willing to be trained to help peers. Teen Connection peer counselors demonstrated their capability and willingness to become involved in responsible and challenging Christian service that ministered to the needs of their peers. The project provides a means to overcome these obstacles through development of a workbook and a study course used with a focus group at Harmony Church in the fall of 1995. Inner healing, healthy sexuality, and spiritual growth require that men resolve inner conflicts resulting from fear of intimacy and mutuality in relationships, anger and abuse of power and persons, and contemporary male role expectations.  This project proposes that the local church should be the primary setting for this work in the lives of men of faith. Research of current literature and resources identified critical issues for male sexuality and masculine spirituality.  Workshop sessions addressed several of these issues in three local church retreats for men. A survey United States Army chaplains currently stationed in the Republic of South Korea indicates that a majority of these chaplains are survivors of profound loss during childhood. Of these chaplains, 36.3 percent reported an alcoholic parent and 68.7 percent reported an experience of loss due to alcohol that had positvie impact on their professional identity. Biblical theology and social-science data form the context in which loss can be integrated.
