The New Testament Epistles offer a unique model of discipleship for the church as well as content for discipleship training.  A study of the evolution of discipleship from the Gospels to the context of the church supports this hypothesis.  The project develops a paradigm from the Epistles, which it then implements and evaluates for its effectiveness. Copies of legal documents, histories of funds from their inception, mechanics of annual interest distribution, and documentation of effects on local ministries were assembled and evaluated. The project isolates theological themes and establishes future trajectories to move mainline churches into the comingmillennium. The project concentrates on a police chaplain's pastoral care of officers who experience an intense grief reaction because of their own fear of death, the close bond between officers, and the public nature of the whole process.  Grief in general, sudden violent death grief, Critical Incident Trauma, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder are discussed. The project analyzes and seeks means to counter falling enrollment at one such school, Kobe Lutheran Bible Institute in Japan. The project distributed questionnaires from graduates and from other schools in similar settings.  Findings revealed that socioeconomic factors and failure of the school to adapt to needs of the national church were the main causes of declining support.
