The intertestamental literature is found to give evidence to a variety of understandings of both resurrection and immortality of the soul. The New Testament texts are described as being witness to an event and as theological interpretation. A tendency to emphasize immortality of the soul is traced from selected Church Fathers through Aquinas to Schleiermacher. The 20th century views of Bultmann, Pannenberg and Fisher (process theology) are considered. The conclusion sees resurrection as held in tension both as a future hope and as present reality in congregational life, based on 'God raised Jesus from the dead' understood as witness to an event and as theological reflection."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714490420297728,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:31:26.377Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:34:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:35:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b7a7c6f8-7f72-44cf-8c75-c2a9b4fc6bc8","accessControl_ssim":["3c59c18e-00e0-45b4-b058-f51b9ec02ea7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Pastoral care to the physically disabled"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:34:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:25:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0ffc56ff-b987-4441-b884-ebf171568379"],"hasLease_ssim":["893d0837-121f-4165-bdad-b57c6f331b5e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"advisor_tesim":["LeRoy Aden"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Autumn H Fletcher"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with people with disabilities"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper discusses major issues of pastoral care to the physically disabled using primary texts, personal experience, a survey on loss and suicide, case studies and statements by physically disabled persons. Chapter 1 is an introduction to the problem of forgiving, which has several dimensions. Little work has been done on this issue, and the work which has been done is, to some degree, confusing. The way the church has approached the issue of forgiveness has added to the ambiguity. Chapter 2 is a study of biblical meanings of forgiveness, and it begins with some thoughts on sin. The latter part of this section is an effort to differentiate forgiveness from the atonement and from reconciliation. The final step is to define forgiveness. Chapter 3 is a study of some developmental and social factors that have the potential to enable or inhibit forgiveness. Space is given to family relationships and the ways that families influence ability to enter into relationships with others, followed by an overview of shame and its manifestations. The final section of the chapter is a discussion of a different approach that the church might take to the issue of forgiveness."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128100187144193,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:54:26.542Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:33:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:53:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"46e747e2-ef87-4ef9-a264-49f66bf2f4bb","accessControl_ssim":["0411e222-65a0-4002-816c-e1da812f72e2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Pastoral care to the absent baby boomer members"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:33:41Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:12:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["99501a33-d728-40ee-9787-0878f4ebb7f6"],"hasLease_ssim":["8b302321-621d-419c-a967-f442858fc85e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Saint Paul School of Theology (Kansas City, MO)"],"advisor_tesim":["Judy Orr","Sondra Higgins Matthaei"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert L Pickerell"],"publisher_tesim":["Saint Paul School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Baby boom generation","Non-church-affiliated people"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["A few of the inactive baby boomer members will return to the church through diverse, short-term, small groups. Through time and talent survey, cultural diversity and evaluation questionnaires, the author discovered that baby boomers want to find ways to express their faith, share their feelings, and do something worthwhile."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719665553899520,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:53:41.770Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:33:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:30:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"03bcaa15-9a6d-4a36-9812-bb41e39d0af0","accessControl_ssim":["1c34627a-0d39-41e3-9a6a-5f1e7a52651f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Conversion in retrospect"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:33:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:13:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ab01076c-263a-4ed9-b932-e5364543b7e2"],"hasLease_ssim":["b2e23ce9-30c6-4cb2-8dda-eb30efedf390"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David C Hester"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Douglas T DeCelle"],"publisher_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Conversion"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project report details how the author attempted to re-introduce conversation about religious conversion and--more broadly--religious experience into a mainline Protestant congregation. The author studied this thesis by locating church leaders according to Robert Kegan's personality balances and then observing their actual behavior through the process of making a key decision in the life of the local church. He found that Kegan's theory of constructive-developmental personality was helpful in understanding the differences that were demonstrated in the various ways the church leaders envisioned, implemented, and evaluated the decision that confronted them. In addition, he offers several observations about how church leaders of each stage can be expected to approach an exercise of decision-making."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7d2ba5b6-aeec-459a-aaec-e1eed75d32f0"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134503915225088,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:36:13.613Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13089,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
