To identify and define parenting principles, the descriptive and historical methods of research were used. Selected parents participated in an eight-week training seminar.  Experimental and descriptive methodology was the basis of pretest/posttest evaluation of a control and experimental group.  Statistical analysis indicated the experimental group demonstrated significant levels of change after the training.  The participants continued in a seven-week seminar to design a program for applying the parenting principles. Eight major retirement adjustment needs were identified and defined through the use of personal observation, research, and questionnaires.  The design of the program focused on the eight major retirement adjustment needs.  Surveys and a pretest-posttest indicated that the fourteen senior adults who participated in an eight-week training program showed an increased knowledge of these problems. Each group was observed and tested to determine if intergenerational koinonia had been achieved. An effort to build a trust relationship had to begin.  To accomplish this, the congregation had to understand the pastor in certain images. These images, servant, child, friend, and partner, would be topics of sermons describing the congregation and pastor. This understanding would assure the acceptance of pastor and congregation.  The enlistment of a small response group of church members and a spiritual mentor proved to be helpful. In this project/dissertation the writer has constructed a research of the married life of participants and administered an experiment for nine weeks. The methodology in this project to measure the improvement of the marriage enrichment was for the experimental and control groups to take two tests: a pre-test before the program, and a post-test three months after the end of the program.
