This project is an attempt for the church to utilize its theology of hope, its use of mystery and ritual and its sense of identity and other resources to prevent teenage depression and despair. This project report describes a course called 'Owning Our Faith,' which was one attempt to provide such an opportunity.  A group of 12 'pilgrims' looked at faith development theories and what it means to become a mature person of faith, shared spiritual autobiographies, engaged in self-discovery through the Myers Briggs Type indicator, explored new mission opportunities, developed our own patterns of prayer, and clarified assumptions about how to study the Bible. After surveying ministry needs and opportunities, church leaders presented their findings to the congregation. First Baptist Church (Henderson, Kentucky) heard a series of sermons on prayer and attended a prayer seminar. The project produced a statement of purpose and a ministry and church planting report by using various tools to help active community needs.  This project used a ten-member task force to identify needs and opportunities for the church. The people who will find this project most beneficial will be young men in ministry who have not been able to attend a Christian college or seminary, men who are called to preach later in life, bi-vocational pastors, and laymen who have opportunity to preach occasionally.  A second group of people who will benefit is those to whom these men minister on a regular basis.  The project was accomplished by contracting with a group of about ten interested men to meet once a week over a period of ten weeks for two-hour sessions.
