Descriptive and historical methods of research were used to design a video-based outreach ministry and a ten-week training course.  Eleven people participated in the seminar and evangelism program.  The project was evaluated through experimental and descriptive methods of analysis.  A statistically significant difference was not found in the pretest-posttest scores. Cognitive and attitudinal changes were measured by means of a pretest-posttest evalution instrument and compared statistically to a control group of twelve lay leaders from Hebron Baptist Church (Meridian, Mississippi). A training model including twelve sessions of lecture and group activities was developed, and a selected group of adults was enlisted.  To test for a cognitive gain of knowledge, the experimental method of pretesting and posttesting was used.  Test comparisons revealed a significant increase in the cognitive test scores of the experimental group.  A t-value of 2.76 was computed which was significant at the .01 level of confidence. The author proposes that the fundamental secular belief that there is no external being called 'God' is consistent with the underlying assumptions of contemporary western culture, and must be seriously addressed by the religious community if evangelism of our culture is to be effective.
