Luke"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The Christian church of the twentieth century is fragmented and distant from its first century origins. Major divisions in the church have altered liturgical practices, especially the ritual observance of the sacraments of baptism and Eucharist.  Early Christian worship reflected in the gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts reveals the religious experiences of the church in the last third of the first century.  To the extent that they can be recovered, this project reveals how the sacramental practices of baptism and Eucharist were formative in the Luke/Acts community, how they evolved through twenty centuries of Christianity, and how they present a paradigm for modern Christian worship. Hymns sung during a two-year period were analyzed and described using standard categories of systematic theology.  The study concluded that both churches' hymnodies demonstrated comprehensive theological development in the key areas of belief. While the hymnodies' teachings are biblical, several areas were noted where discrepancies might have occurred between people's beliefs and the beliefs they expressed in their singing. When one knows the history of a parish, it gives the members a sense of direction and mission for continuity. The number one single priority need in almost every demographic category was personal spiritual development. Chapter 3 discusses the history of marriage and divorce in the church, the concept of marriage and divorce in the Old Testament, the Gospels, the letters of Paul, the Reformation church, and the Orthodox Church.  The fourth chapter focuses on some current issues of marriage and divorce in the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon. During these years, first-generation Koreans worked toward better socio-economic positions and lifestyles.  However, while these parents were working hard, their children grew up without much love or interest from the parents.  Two different lifestyles of the first and second generations were starting to make a wall between them.  This wall manifested itself at home and at church as separation of these two groups.  The difference in language, culture and values further separated these two groups.  The church is given the task of reconciling and restoring first and second generations' relationship and treating their wounds. The writer has begun a retreat program that can allow second-generation children to discover a new identity, and Korean language school that can improve their relationship by better understanding each other. To support the goal of each couple developing a new functional homeostasis in their marital and family relationships, the model of ministry included: MD's psychosocial screening; brief pastoral contacts introducing the ministry; a psychosocial/spiritual 'holding environment' to process major fears/concerns about body image, sexual function/roles; and, emphasis on community support. Although the efficacy of the pastoral care interventions is perhaps best judged in the context of each couple's relationship, data from pre-counseling and evaluation questionnaires was analyzed. All five males and six females indicated on follow-up questionnaires that sharing their emotions during the treatment of cervical cancer with a counselor was 'very important' or 'moderately important.'
