The ethical culture of the church must be improved and uplifted in order to become the witness of the gospel in today's age.  Therefore, the emphasis upon ethical culture and the practice of a faithful witness are closely related. From this, a distinction between the forms of worship and the substance of worship is offered. Following this distinction, new forms are suggested for worship.  Finally, the psychology of change is presented, with strategies offered.  Research is primarily through books contained in bibliography. This project was designed to answer that question and to be an instrument used by other churches in Appalachia to enhance the meaning of church membership.  The project utilized a thirteen-week discussion manual and video.  The course dealt with those topics of interest determined by members who were surveyed within the author's context of ministry. The objective of the work is to address stress among clergy by developing collegial support and clarifying participant's visions of ministry. The programme is designed to run for six sessions, each lasting a full day. The author uses qualitative research methodology to describe and evaluate the experience of two groups who used the programme. The thesis draws on the conviction that remembering will play a significant part in the grief process and will make it possible to hope.  If such is the case, then our funeral rituals must provide environments of care in which remembering within the context of the Christian story might take place. The conclusion reached is that an imaginative use of the Order of Christian Funerals does indeed offer scope for remembering. There were 29 adult subjects (23 males and 6 females) from two treatment groups.  Subjects were given the Tennessee Self Concept Scale (TSCS) as soon after beginning treatment as possible, and mailed the TSCS for retesting 60 days after treatment. Eleven male and four female subjects completed the test/retest. The manual, O Professor-Evangelista de Criancas: Fundamentos de uma Pedagogia Especializada (The Children's Evangelist: Fundamentals of a Specialized Pedagogy), is designed to be used as an in-service training manual.  The first section describes the project's parameters and the historical development of the Brazilian educational process.  Section 2 is the Portuguese manual, and section 3 is the English translation of that manual. The identity and characteristics of a children's Bible teacher, basic biblical/theological and pedagogical preparation, and factors which affect the growth and development of the Brazilian child are discussed.
