The British school of object relations theory, especially Fairbairn and Guntrip, shows that 'splitting,' related to the introjection of the 'bad object,' is essential to a differentiated self.  Psychopathology stems from rigidifying splits in the self.  Healing depends on release of 'bad objects' in a transformational relationship, including transference with the therapist as 'good object.' The project was based on biblical, theological, and psychological studies of spirituality, midlife, and spiritual formation, with special emphasis on Jungian perspectives, developmental psychology, and the Korean concept of han, and focusing on the issues and needs of midlife. This project presents an efficient and effective methodology for the mid-sized pastorate based upon five principles discerned by the researcher from studying the preparation process of fifteen pastors who were identified as excellent preachers. Ethnographic research was employed for the project and included a survey, interviews, a peer panel and self-testing of the methods. Sixteen lay leaders participated in a four-week training course in spiritual development, followed by four weeks of trial ministry. This systematic emphasis on spiritual growth was rooted in traditions of spiritual direction, biblical mandates to seek God and exercise the spirit, and the affirmation that Christians live as members of gathering, witnessing communities. Counsel from five congregational groups helped design a survey questionnaire to discover what teaching on the stewardship of money is needed and desired, and its content. Responses came from 181 pastoral graduates of the two seminaries. The church is located in a rapidly changing community and must have a plan in order to reach and minister to that community.  The church, led by the pastor, elected a long-range planning committee, and through surveys and census information the committee identified the church's strengths and weakness and established a target group.  The committee then used this information and developed a plan that addressed some of the identified needs of the target group. Bibliographic, historical, descriptive and evaluative research were required.  The use of case studies was considered essential. Six major Ivorian cities were chosen with interviews conducted among missionaries from ten mission agencies. Fervent prayer, a diverse use of means and methods of evangelism, mission coordination, cell group formation, and theological education are among the priorities for successful evangelization and church planting-efforts.
