By means of a critical analysis a proposed procedure for The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana (ELCG) Lutheran Seminary was prepared by the author.  He assessed the current student population and ELCG ordained pastors through means of tracking GPAs, personal interviews, surveys and questionnaires to discover academic and cultural needs in preparing for the pastoral ministry. The major theme running through this portfolio is hearing God, which played key roles in researcher's spiritual formation and was viewed as a crucial factor in the model designed to help the spiritual formation of CICs. The project showed that most participants expressed their experience of hearing God during lectio divina, and some vowed to change their behaviour. Pentecostalism has been seriously penetrating among Lutheran members to the extent that some of them do not value Lutheran Divine Service.  They claim that Lutheran Divine Service is not spiritual because it is guided by the book or written materials and therefore not spiritual.  The study made a survey.  Results proved that many Lutheran members in ELCT did not understand the contents available in the hymnal. Research was conducted on a Lutheran definition of prayer for the Psalms, the use and role of imagination in interpreting the psalms, and on homiletic strategies tailored to the Psalms as prayer.  The research method was to take surveys and observation notes throughout an intensive period of Bible classes and sermons and then again at a later date. The evaluation is based on interviews with ten members and attendees of First Christian Church in St. Francis, Kansas. The interview questions probed the nature of a potential connection between pastoral visits to encourage spiritual growth, that is, growth in comprehending God's Word, having one's convictions shaped by God's Word, and having one's conduct increasingly transformed by God's Word, and substantive spiritual growth as so defined. Dr. Grant Kaul has done excellent research to validate the relationship between an intentional expository sermon and spiritual growth in the church family he serves as senior pastor. His intentional expository sermon plan focused on the book of Revelation. First, that spiritual growth was measured in terms of an increased comprehension of biblical content. Second, spiritual growth was measured in terms of an embracing of biblical convictions and values which are the source for a Christian's conduct. Third, spiritual growth was measured in terms of personal conduct increasingly aligned with both biblical content and convictions. Building upon that research, this author proposes to validate a relationship between pastoral visits and spiritual growth for the church family presently being served in the areas of biblical comprehension, biblical convictions, and biblical conduct. In addition to an intentional expository sermon plan to encourage the spiritual growth of a church family, pastoral visits can be a tool to further reinforce that spiritual growth. Pastors with military leadership experience were surveyed and interviewed to identify how their military experience aided or hindered their transition to pastoral ministry.  These pastors were also given the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ 5X) to gage if their military leadership was more transformational or transactional. This praxis provided times of corporate worship guided by the Psalms, as well as teaching and devotional writing from the Psalms, presented in such a way to foster greater understanding of the Psalter and facilitate psalm-based prayer. Surveys measured participants' perceptions of their doctrinal knowledge, attitude toward partnership, and perceived difficulty in dealing with the logistics of partnership. Discussion, reflection, and interviews contributed to the interpretation of survey data. As this emphasis on preaching has become increasingly more important, reflected by post-conciliar documents and statements by the popes following the council, the question remains: has the seminary curriculum changed with this emphasis to ensure that the clergy are properly trained for preaching.  This research project reviews the literature of evaluation of preaching over the last three decades along with the changes in requirements for homiletics in the five editions of the Program of Priestly Formation.  The author developed a research tool using Appreciative Inquiry and interviewed homiletics professors at six Roman Catholic theologates in the United States to aggregate the 'best preaching practices' in these homiletics programs.  The aggregated results demonstrate that in fact improvements have been made in the preaching programs.
