It asked if the historical/theological narrative mandated a balance, how is it reflected and whether the contemporary church seeks to implement such in its ongoing worship.  A qualitative design, using semi-structured interviews with eight pastors and one worship director was implemented. This is done through the practice of the three principles of biblical hospitality: protection, provision, and renewal. The researcher demonstrated through a phenomenological study a significant link between the practice of incarnational hospitality and ministry Longevity in pastoral ministry is rare due to several cultural factors. First, the society of the 21st century is a fast-paced, transient culture. Second, society has evolved from an agrarian culture through the industrial revolution to an information driven technological global village. Finally, there is an increase of anxiety, burnout and spiritual warfare within the pastor's family and in the church.
