During its 30 years of existence the church has received into fellowship only five individuals from the unchurched population. This project indicates that the church can be more effective in its outreach to the unchurched by developing multi-facit and contextualized ministries. The instrument used to collect data for the study are questionnaires, observation and interviews. The study reveals the following dynamics to be contributors to the church's inability to effectiveley minister to the unchurched: inadequate laity participation, ambiguity of mission and vision, outdated evangelistic methodology, under funded outreach ministry, insufficuent contextualized ministry and extremely low church involvement in the community. Data was collected by researching biblical, historical, theological, and secular literature on discipleship and mentorship. A quantitative and a qualitative study showed a definite correlation exists between perceived effectiveness of the curriculum and the students' perceptions of their teachers' performances. This thesis also researches mentoring and its use within the chaplain's context. The author first clarifies what addiction is, explores why it is intensifying, and explains how this intensification affects pastoral work. In the second chapter, relevant literature is examined from the twelve-step movement, the helping professions and pastoral writers -- locating a core of tested wisdom pastors can utilize. Members of the body of Christ and our natural world are excluded from experiencing wholeness and life due to injustice, discrimination, inaccurate readings of scripture, and lack of discipleship. This happens when a church has not carefully examined scripture, which clearly shares with us Christ's desire for us to heal the broken body of Christ. It is clear that Jesus asks church members to re-member the broken body of Christ. By re-membering, I mean that we are called to re-engage those who have been excluded. In order to answer this question, the following topics will be researched in order to determine which of the major economic systems best adheres to the biblical material: stewardship, freedom, work, justice, mercy and the economic systems.  The goal of this thesis project is to create a seminar on the Christian worldview of economics that can be used to educate Christians about biblical economic principles and to survey Christians about their worldview of economics in relation to the marketplace.  I expect the seminar to help Christians make a stronger connection of their faith to work. The seminar was designed for Heartist Ministries, which is my own para-church worldview training and apologetics ministry, but it can also be easily adapted for a church Sunday School curriculum or formatted for an at home small group Bible Study program.
