The intent of this project is to create an environment of transformation for the development of virtuous leaders at Crosspoint Church in Hemet, California.  This project, therefore, developed lectures on the creation ordinances of Genesis, the wisdom sayings of Proverbs, the beatitudes of Matthew's gospel, and the key vice and virtue lists of the New Testament.  The research design combined thirteen weeks of instruction, weekly sermonic reading, daily practice of the spiritual disciplines, and evaluation instruments. The study tries to ascertain whether experiences on these two different labyrinths are equal in quality. Is a walk on a contemporary labyrinth commensurate with a walk on an archetypal labyrinth as a path to inner reflection, healing, transformation, and contemplation of God? The study is not conclusive, but it does illustrate the fact that each individual labyrinth walk as with each individual's path is different. A significant task, which the Interim Minister is trained to accomplish, is to promote the development of lay leadership. To address this task, a leadership training program was designed that invited lay persons to serve as team leaders in vital areas of ministry. This program utilized the resources of leadership theory, organizational and congregational development, theological reflection, and worship. The workshop was developed and implemented by the author in cooperation with Ecuadorian leadership during a two-year term from July, 1999, to June, 2001. Questionnaires and interviews were used to evaluate the outcome. They indicated significant involvement in discipling as much as two years after the workshop. The big story can be obscured by over emphasizing the moral lessons to be learned on the Old Testament narratives as well as by wrongly reading Jesus into passages in ways that are not fair. Instead, this project develops sermons for the fall semester of 2006 that attempted to demonstrate the Christological center of the Bible and it was informed by academic research. They can be combined with evangelism to form the outreach ministry of the church to its community.  Various Chinese churches in different countries have used this model of sharing the love and the gospel of Christ through evangelism and social services.  The focus of this project is the development of a community ministry plan for a Chinese church in Canada.  The author surveyed over a hundred and fifty Chinese churches in eastern Canada and conducted in-depth interviews with four of the churches with community ministry.  Furthermore, three community service organizations in Ottawa where the author's church is located were interviewed in order to better assess the needs of the community.  Based on the findings of the research, a plan is developed to implement community ministry. Participants described the content, mode and personnel involved in their training, and gave suggestions for improvements, most rating it adequate for what they encountered, and indicating increased interest in long-term service. Follow-up support groups met for the three consecutive Sunday evenings.  The seminar addressed cognitive, skill-development, and affective issues centered on the issues of childrearing. Jesus' model of servant leadership is perfect and relevant for every congregation and its various organizations. This model of leadership ensures growth and health in the life of the church. Leadership is the key to the internal life of the congregation, as well as to its relationship with the outer world and fruitfulness in that world. The author designed a leadership training course consisting of eight sessions, in which the participants studied leadership models from the Old Testament and the New Testament. The eight lessons were biblically based, but they were also enhanced by leadership and congregational studies from such professional scholars as Edwin H Friedman, Peter L Steinke, and Diana Butler Bass. Each of the sessions included lecture, discussion, evaluation, and personal and group assessments.
