The project used a set of interfaith activities and was implemented in Charleston, West Virginia in a series of meetings between members of a local church and the Islamic center. The results were positive, as participants characterized the activities as a valuable learning experience that changed their perceptions of each other's religions. Mixed methods of research utilizing pre and post surveys, a series of sermons, observations and interviews given by a context group were used to measure the results.  The goal was to teach the Christian education board made up of 17 members, on the usage and application of fellowship principles taken from the Bible, and to have these members use these principles of fellowship in the congregation. The project involved two groups of participants that were studied and evaluated. The diagnosis included dementia and Alzheimer's disease (Group A), and depression or serious medical or neurological illnesses (Group B). Using the participant/observer approach, all participants kept daily journals, answered a questionnaire, and weekly meetings were taped. This project found individuals feeling closer to God, gender response differences, and occasionally, typical Appalachian responses. In this project, eighteen clergy from different denominations in the Greater Kanawha Valley in West Virginia participated in focus groups addressing questions selected by the moderator. Clergy members were encouraged to talk freely about their concerns and perspectives. Verbatim transcripts were generated from three focus-group discussions.  Quotes from clergy participants were grouped into thematic areas for the purpose of qualitative analysis. These spiritual practices were addressed through a strategically planned ten-session program consisting of meditations, lectures, and workshops. A pre and post assessment was developed to measure attitudinal changes in areas specified. Therefore, I plan to focus on marriages in crisis and the pastoral ministry that addresses them.  My ministry focus will consist of a student guide for new ministers that engaged marriages in crisis without any clinicla experience. The participants were involved in participatory activities using the pro-active method. This approach works pro-actively toward transformation and intentionally engages in qualitative research. The participants exposed to spiritual tools involving scripture reading, prayer, meditation, and dialogue were able to identify God's invitation to intimacy. Evaluation of the project included entry and exit questionnaires, journaling, and exit interviews. The objective of this project was to critique the absolute-truth claim of Churches of Christ and the interpretive and methodological structures that maintain it. The research methods used to test the hypothesis were action research and the pro-active method, using questionnaires, workshops, surveys, and interviews. The results showed that adherents were willing to rethink the absolute-truth claim.
