The culture and challenge of the new paradigm church is explored through historical influences.  The theological framework is the theology of theosis as expressed in transcendence and beauty.  Jerome Berryman's model for children's worship (Godly play) shows how through creativity and play children experience spirituality as transcendence and awe. The methodology of this technique will be transferred to adult ministry. Unfortunately, churches in transitioning neighborhoods struggle predictably with how best to respond to the unique challenges and opportunities presented by changing demographics.  The project grows out of the experiences of a local congregation, Calvary Reformed Church, Holland, Michigan over an eight year period.  This project shows that is is possible/preferable for an established congregation to embrace a community undergoing economic, ethnic or cultural change. The discernment of this covenant relationship with God and each other was described through biblical exegesis, theological doctrine, contemporary writings and artistic expression. A lectionary study book on suffering and three specific psalms was prepared.  A diverse group of pastors was recruited to take part in the study and preach a three-Sunday sermon series on three lament psalms.  The goal was to move congregants from cultural forms of denial of suffering to a biblical theology of communicating suffering.  Response cards indicated that 40% of the respondents changed their beliefs regarding God and suffering. This paper considered how to form these strategies by comparing the attitudes of present-day Serbs toward money and the church with the experience of churches in North America in relationship to money and discipleship formation. Jung's dream analysis methods to unfold Jesus' parables in ways that encourage emotional and spiritual healing for parishioners in a pastoral counseling setting.  Three aspects of Jung's dream analysis -- amplification, compensation, and context -- provided the framework for the creation of the Dreaming Parables Guide.  The method of study followed a Sunday morning adult Bible class for eight weeks using the guide to explore Jesus' parables. Particular attention was paid to the state of church membership of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church. Two areas of research have inspired the author: the biblical principles of Nehemiah, Jesus, and Paul, and the insights of James Kouzes and Barry Posner, from the secular arena. Sixteen persons selected from the congregation participated in a nine-week leadership-training class.
