This paper addresses the need for persons in Clinical Pastoral Education to examine the issues of shame, guilt and forgiveness--both in the themselves and their patients. The author's CPE experience during a two-year residency at a state psychiatric hospital and a general hospital in Kokomo, IN, led her to the view that these are issues needing to be addressed more directly than they are presently. CPE students were observed to struggle with transference and countertransference issues resulting from their own personal histories in which shame and guilt played a part, with resulting impact upon interactions with patients, staff, and health professionals. Distorted perception caused by the dynamics of shame and guilt hinders the capacity of person to be agents of healing and forgiveness. Four groups of active, long-term church members answered a questionnaire, pre-intervention, prepared by the author.  Three groups out of the four received the intervention of professionally marketed inventories with the fourth group being the control group.  Post-intervention all four groups again answered the author's questionnaire.  The changes they made on the questionnaire post-intervention showed no significant difference between the control group and those receiving intervention. This project will include: 1) research into the concept of the Spirit-filled life from a biblical, historical, and contemporary context; 2) development of curriculum for a forty-day discipleship training course on living the Spirit-filled life, and 3) equipping members of Turning Point Baptist Church to live a Spirit-filled life.  The curriculum includes lesson plans and an interactive student devotional.  The devotional contains forty chapters which are designed to be read in consecutive days.  Numerous individuals, including experts in the field of the Holy Spirit, critiqued and commented about the curriculum before church members were equipped. The project director proposed a new paradigm of ministry to First Baptist Church of Largo, Florida and the Florida Baptist Convention.  The focus of this ministry was pastoral care rather than the placement of blame. They also modeled prayer group sessions, which they personally lead, following participation in the workshop.  The workshop format utilized eight hours of training including and introductory session, six training sessions, and a final session addressing administration and the enlistment of participants.
