Clergy are often the first chaplains to respond to community disasters, providing pastoral care and victim assistance. But, chaplaincy is very different than being the pastor of a church, and ministering within the context of cultural and religious diversity is very different than being the pastoral leader of a specific congregation within a particular religious tradition. Three aspects of interpreting the Bible are particularly emphasized.  The importance of gaining a bird's eye perspective of the Bible, laying out the hermeneutical principles for interpreting different genres of biblical literature, and encouraging lay leaders in the practices of spiritual disciplines.  This course was taught to over one hundred participants at Christ Community Church (St. Charles, Illinois) in the spring of 2002. Each new member received information regarding the church, ministry opportunities, Baptist basics, and the Christian life. This method of theological reflection places Christian tradition, experience, and the resources fo culture in dialogue, suggesting a framework for discussing building and/or renovation of churches, as set forth in BLS.  A rationale reflecting a habitus of practical theology develops.  Pastoral strategies arise from this rationale. The questionnaire method was used among Asian Indian pastors to study certain areas of ministry and the level of networking with established churches.  This project analyzes some aspects of friendship evangelism and traditional methodologies, and will help readers understand Hinduism, biblical Christianity, cultural Christianity, Hindu cultural values and belief systems in order to remove misconceptions, biased feelings, and wrong attitudes. Disappointed Pastors are those who are currently in the midst of disappointment and burnout in their contexts of ministry.  Overcoming Pastors are those who have emerged from a time of disappointment and burnout. The underlying conviction of this thesis--that listeners are always co-creators of meaning along with the preacher in any sermon event--is based upon data collected during a three-year preaching project, and upon the work of a number of contemporary homileticians. The main thesis builds on the work of Fred Craddock who viewed the purpose of the sermon as 'getting something heard.'
