The thesis was field-tested by two groups in two separate churches.  Each group followed the theological basis and the guidelines that were recommended for building and implementing a vision that was to lead to a new ministry within each church. A new ministry was born within each church.  The process and the experience of the process brought forth a positive and renewing effect upon the participants and spread beyond them. Using Groome's method of practical theology, 'Shared Christian Praxis,' the author conducted a case study in a Chicago parish, meeting with adults at a separate location while their children took part in the catechesis. The church has grown rapidly in the past four years. Many of the people added to the church have come from completely secular backgrounds or Christian traditions other than evangelical. These new members must be trained in order to retain them. The plan of ministry will be for the writer to recruit a team of eight to ten mentors. These mentors will be trained for a period of four weeks. In the implementation phase, the mentors will meet weekly with new members for discussion of the previous Sunday morning message as well as some additional Bible study. An evaluation will be performed at every stage of the process. The mentors will evaluate each training session. Both mentors and new members will evaluate each message and mentoring session. Research on sociology, education, and small group theory are shared. Categories of biblical interpretation based on how different persons hold the Bible as authoritative are presented. The aim was to determine the issues that are importnt to once-churched individuals and how to shape sermons on these issues. During the project, both churched and once-churches individuals completed surveys to determine their feelings about the church and their personal needs.  Four sermons were crafted in response to these surveys.  Participants listened to and responded to each sermon.  Changes were made to future sermons based upon the response each week. The plan is to begin a healing process with these pastors in such a way that they will see God's strength and love and that they will have viable tools at their disposal for current or future conflict situations. Specifically, the issues of any past conflict situation(s) will be examined. Tools will be offered to manage future conflicts.  Information from target pastors who have experienced forced termination(s) will be solicited. During their interviews, these pastors will be asked to identify the circumstances surrounding their particular forced termination(s). After gathering as much information as possible, this project leader will instruct these pastors in three areas: multi-level polarity management of conflicts, conflict information in general, and scriptural helps. Three other aids will be offered. The first is to teach the same information to any group of people in the churches where these pastors serve. The second is to establish a prayer support group for these pastors and their families from other local pastors. The third is to offer to preach a sermon in each church where these pastors serve. The sermon will show Christian harmony and the need for a ministry focus.
