Furthermore, in recounting church members' reflections upon the diversity of God's Kingdom with his own, the author challenges prejudice and conservative attitudes from fresh angles. This project focused on gender relations among clergy full members of the Kansas West Conference of the United Methodist Church. Using theology and the cognitive mode from psychology, the author looked at intermediate and core beliefs and automatic thoughts of clergy toward each other. The elements were analyzed through a focus group, a general survey, and directed reading. The Church passes on the Christian faith to its young, but it also receives new and valuable perspectives into its faith from the young. This paper seeks to explore systematically children's insights into the Christian message, drawing on the body of research and reflection accumulated by the international Catechesis of the Good Shepherd movement over the course of the past fifty years. It then asks how children's theology--named 'mustard seed theology'--can be of particular use to preachers. It reports the results of two sets of interactions with preachers around the question. This project considers the spiritual needs unique to persons with alzheimer's, and how faith communities can respond to those needs.  A framework of pastoral ministry outlined by Eugene Peterson is used to examine the ministries of three professionals working with persons with alzheimer's. Chapter 1 outlines the purpose, goals, context, rationale, and research methodology.  Chapter 2 provides the biblical and theological foundations for missions.  Texts were selected from the Old and New Testament to demonstrate God's mission mandate.  The doctrines of soteriology, ecclesiology, and eschatology were examined.  Chapter 3 discusses the historical foundation for missions with regard to specific individuals.  David Brainerd, William Carey, Adoniram Judson, Lottie Moon, and Annie Armstrong were presented as examples of those who laid the foundation for missions.  The International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board were presented as examples of specific Southern Baptist involvement in worldwide missions. Chapters 4 and 5 present the elements of the ministry project.  The focus groups are formed; a pre-test and post-test questionnaire are used to measure the effectiveness of the sermons. Postmodern philosophers of language have elucidated the idea that the reader or listener hold many of the keys to authority rather than the author or speaker as was previously espoused. Thus, this project seeks to explore the important role that context plays upon the way preachers go about attending to their task of communicating in the postmodern era. The project explores Fred Craddock's thesis regarding the inductive method of preaching and its continued viability. The project also examines the sociological issues impacting the preacher who would speak a word into the postmodern situation. The project leader seeks to target both traditional and postmodern members of all ages and lengths of membership that will result in a wide cross section from the congregation. This will enable a balanced approach to the understanding needed to properly evaluate past history, define current growth and allow for creative planning for the future. This model will address both the traditional and postmodern cultures each with its own unique needs and desires. The project leader wishes for both groups to grow numerically and spiritually within the church. The challenge will be to lead both generations to appreciate one another and to allow that appreciation to lead them to cooperating together in the spirit of unity. The desired outcome of this research project if for both traditional and postmodern members to understand each other's various needs and to be willing to accept ministries that will meet the needs of both groups within the same congregation and in the community.
