In an eight-week study, participants explored materials in the following areas: (1) conflict types and conflict recognition, (2) biblical conflict resolution, (3) understanding one's conflict management style, (4) forgiveness and reconciliation, (5) communication: listening and assertion skills, (6) conflict coaching, (7) mediation, and (8) a mediation case study. The curriculum included information gathered through research as well as practical learning experiences. Practical experiences included a conflict inventory to help participants to understand better their preferred style of conflict management; role play to help participants practice listening and assertion skills and to recognize signs and levels of conflict; and case studies to provide learners with practical experience in utilizing conflict management concepts. The initial research and review was accomplished through interviews and pastoral as well as church input, and through biblical study and insight, the need for additional training was evident. As a result of this investigation, the conclusion was reached that the project leader would develop a six-month deacon leadership model. In summary, the goal of this project to assist prospective deacons in discovering their true ministerial calling was reached. The vision of the church was examined in relation to the five functions of the church as found in Acts 2:38-47: evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry and worship.  The project director sought to increase the involvement of the membership of the church in the definition and achievement of common ministry goals.  He achieved this objective by researching biblically-based budgeting and various models of church budgeting, developing a strategy for vision-based budgeting, and surveying the membership of the church.  The project resulted in the development of a strategic plan that included the essential elements for a vision statement and a budget. In addition to the achievement of ministry goals, the project director also sought to achieve certain professional goals by producing a list of informed principles of vision-based budgeting and by enhancing his understanding of strategic development. Feminist liberation theologians provide the lens through which the author analyzes this data.  The thesis examines how the egalitarian and inter-connected worlds of cyberspace destabilize dominant patriarchal, ecclesiastical and cultural norms, and asserts that women claiming space in the public realm of on-line discourse impacts positively on developing an ecclesial community. This researcher conducted a project using collaborative means of leadership development training to grow the leaders into leadership roles and give them tools to duplicate that leadership method with others. Fourteen leaders took part in retreats, video presentations, lectures, and testing. A triumphalist theology emerged out of this belief that denies the hard paradoxes of faith and life.  This dissertation examines the Church of God development of this triumphalistic faith practice and attempts to develop an expanded theological perspective and practice of ministry.  This is conceptualized by examining several components of Paul Tillich's theology. The context of this study is First United Methodist Church, Boerne, Texas.  The intervention used to achieve this goal is 'Igniting Ministry,' the denomination's national media campaign.  The findings were that this test congregation far exceeded national studies and local surveys, focus groups, and interviews. Exercises in team building, goal setting, process mapping, surveys, brain-storm and planning sessions will be used with team members. Research and information from visits to observe other strategic enrollment management plans will provide valuable input. The project will not be complete without a plan for assessment and improvement on a routine basis. The long-term goal is for seminary administrators to approve of the strategic enrollment plan developed by the team and to allocate physical space and financial resources for a 'student services center' where the latest technological approaches to enrollment services can be utilized in a friendly, student centered atmosphere. What impact did that appropriation have on the experience of pastoral burnout? The seven male volunteers experienced burnout while serving as pastors in Wesleyan denominations.
