A small group participated in a retreat where they learned spiritual practices, accountability, and support.  Measurements included journal entries, surveys, and observations.  When compared to a control group, those who participated scored significantly higher in all areas of spiritual growth (both individually and corporately). The purpose was to enable the state leaders to become the National Church Library Ministry team that will carry out the objectives and actions.  A survey of 796 church library directors was conducted in January, 2002 to gather up-to-date information about church libraries. The state leaders met at the Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee on March 12-13, 2002.  The process included ministry analysis, values discovery, environmental scan, and mission, vision, and strategy development. The project was implemented at a military installation with only one chapel, which must be amicably utilized by several faith groups.  Nine monthly meetings were selected with the two chapel Advisory Councils to ascertain attitudes toward faith group collaboration.  This model's instruments (e.g., vision statement, sermons and literature) can be used in other diverse chapel communities. New project analyzed presbytery's mission approach learned from history of missions in Western Christianity. It was a six week study that had discussion and journaling as part of the process.  Following the study observations were done by the context committee, and interviews of the study participants were done. The study was implemented at Bashor Children's Home in Goshen, Indiana.  Four participants were selected for case studies that involve interviews and interventions designed to meet the specific spiritual needs of each individual youth.  The research was based on pre- and post-tests, surveys, and observations to measure the effects of this ministry technique.
