A small group was offered an opportunity to participate in 1) concentrated training for basic youth ministry, 2) observation in churches with comprehensive, healthy youth ministries and 3) personal mentoring time dealing with ministry issues.  Predominatly Hispanic conference leaders from around the state led the training sessions, thus providing teaching as well as contacts and role models for them. Observations increased application ideas.  Mentoring allowed personal growth based upon their personal needs. Spiritual mapping seeks to identify God's plan for a city and the spiritual strongholds which prevent the spread of the gospel and the growth of the church.  Insights gained are applied to prayer and evangelism.  Historical research was done, current residents were interviewed and conclusions have been drawn.  Specific redemptive gifts and spiritual strongholds were identified in the church and community. The author limited the scope of the study in the groups to five key areas of spiritual growth and the groups met for one and a half hours, once a week for forty one weeks.  The author evaluated the groups at the mid-point and at the end of the group life. Evaluative tools employe were surveys and personal interviews. Questionnaires were given at the beginning and at the end of the program.  The results of the questionnaires indicated that students grew in their Christian faith as demonstrated by an increase in discernible discipleship habits.  The liturgy helped facilitate that end.  The mentors developed relationships with the mentorees that empowered them to grow in their Christian faith. I propose that a Phish concert experience is offering people something that they are not receiving in the local church.  Young people, particularly those of Generation X (those born between 1961-1981), are noticeably absent from the church.
