There is no way of being human without participating in culture, for it is through culture that human community is created. This dissertation is a study of the work of 19th century missionaries into Chinland, Union of Burma. An evaluation of the data shows that these missionaries were not sensitive enough to the indigenous culture and tradition of the Chin. Church leadership developed core values, vision and strategy from the Growing a Healthy Church seminar and refined a list of core values, which then defined vision and strategy. The goal of this project was to design a ministry team structure for the local church to engage members in ministry.  A study group was involved in discovery and developmental strategy sessions to asses church needs, description of ministry teams and the design of a structure. The church participated in teaching sessions and completed a survey to determine involvement in ministry teams. It included only the first six sessions of a proposed twenty four session strategy. The project was effective as a pilot strategy and will continue to be edited. The curricula was a combination of materials complied by the project leader and materials written by the project leader. The project leader read books, studied other discipleship materials, conducted interviews, and utilized several evaluations tools to attain and measure the goals of this strategy. Participants at the Recreation and Sports Ministry Conference in Lake Yale, Florida, were surveyed along with Recreation Administration graduates from Oklahoma Baptist University. The project was conducted in three stages: the enlistment of potential leaders, the training of the leaders, and the enlistment of leaders and assignment of participants to specific Shepherd Groups. Se analiza la amabilidad y la amistad como elementos básicos en las buenas relaciones humanas que permiten ganar amigos para hablarles del evangelio. The purpose of this study was to explore systemic factors, denominational and district, that restrict local church health as well as to propose tracks for strategic effectiveness within the Western Canadian District (WCD).  The project utilized four sources of data: focus groups with delegates to the CMAC General Assembly 1998, a national survey of the CMAC, regional meetings with WCD pastors, and a statistical review of WCD churches. The research findings describe the types of contexts, people, relationships, experiences and activities that were significant.
